Lent is the spiritual high-tide of the Church Year. This forty day period between Ash Wednesday and Easter memorializes the sufferings of our Lord and reminds us of the high sense of mission and the moral courage which enabled Him to set His face steadfastly toward the cross. As we endeavor to observe Lent thoughtfully, we begin to see that it is more than a brief period fox self-denial in minor matters. It is rather a time which calls for some real heart-searching to i determine the direction in which we are moving and the purpose for which we are living. Down the centuries and into the dim re cesses of our religious consciousness comes the ancient, yet ever up-to-date, invitation of our Lord: ' Follow Me." Responding to ihis call, we may lose ourselves in a cause greater than self and find life refreshingly interesting and challenging. y Rev. Nelson H.
