Tschan, professor emeritus of European history, will be honored by a memorial fund -for the purchase of books on medieval history for the Pattee Library. _ The fund, sponsored by the his tory department, will be adminis tered by the Penn State Founda tion. Tschan, who died in July, taught at the University from 1925 to 1946. He wrote numerous books and articles on subjects within the European history field. A native of Germany, Tschan came to the United States as a child. He was graduated- from Loyola University with a bache lor's, master's and doctor's de grees in law. He received his doc tor of philosophy degree from the University of Chicago.
