Dr. Walker told a press con ference at the National Science Foundation that the "clinic areas" will be selected from a tentative list which now includes Cleve land, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, York, Los Angeles, Lowell, Mass., Tulsa, Wilmington, Del„ and Seattle. The task force will work with the Engineers Joint Council, a member organization of the Com mittee, local engineering societies, educators, and industry in -the areas to determine the most suc ccssful techniques for effective conservation of engineering man power. Dr. Walker said the task force will look for tested practices in recruitment of engineers and sup porting personnel, and for better engineering management through job placement, work organiza tion and additional training for increased competence. • The group will also examine, effective steps to improve morale, and incentives through adequate salary structure, opportunity for , advancement within the engi neering fession, liaison with! top management and professional recognition.
