PAGE EIGHT Pershing Rifles Unit To Mark 25th Year Company B-5, the University's Pershing Rifles unit, will hold its 25th anniversary dance at 9 tonight in the Armory. A flag-raising ceremony was held at 7 a.m. today in front of Old Main. In its 25 years at the University, the unit has served as honor guard, ceremonial firing squad and drill demonstration Fashion Show To Be Given By Leonides A spring fashion show, includ ing fashions for both men and women, will be presented by Leonides at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Hetzel Union assembly room. Clothes from a State College women's and men's clothing store will be modeled, and two movie tickets will be awarded to one of the first 200 persons to arrive. Among the eight male models will be Lash Howes, president of .Association of Independent Men: Leonard Richards, All-University secretary-treasurer; an d Bruce Gilmore, member of the varsity football and wrestling teams. A total of 10 women, including dormitory hostesses Mrs. Betty A. Lewis and Mrs. Margaret Gluck, will model. The Don Early Quartet will play for the show and Jeannette Bloom, freshman in arts and letters from Reading will commentate. Admission is free. WDFM Variety Show The Austin Wells Trio and vo calist Rod Perry will be featured on the WAFM variety program, "Hubzapoppin'," to be broadcast at 8 tonight. The program will originate from the Hetzel Union assembly room. Among the honors held by Com pany B-5 in the National Society of -Pershing Rifles are second place in trick drill and second place in outstanding company events taken at the last regi mental drill meet. Its 1957 program will include a parade at Rutgers University, the All-University drill meet on Mother's Day and the annual regi mental drill meet in Pittsburgh. Company Firsts Company B-5 was one of the first Pershing Rifles units to in clude members of the Naval Re serve Officers Training Corps. It ' was also one of the first to in clude platoons outside its own campus. Platoons from Pottsville and Ogontz center participate in activities of the unit. Members of Pershing Rifles at the University can be identified by a blue and white cord on their uniforms and a blue and white service ribbon. Pershing Rifles was established in 1894 at the University of Ne braska by General John J. Per shing as an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps demonstration team. Retired MI Dean Dies In Pittsburgh Hospital -Dr. Elmer Allen Holbrook, who was from 1922 to 1927 dean of the School of Mines and Metallurgy, now the College of Mineral In dustries, died yesterday in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
