Dickerson, associate dean and director of resident instruction in the College of Agriculture, will leave next month for the University of the Philippines where he V;i11 reorganize and plan the development of a comprehensive program in agricultural education. Dr. Dickerson will be working under the auspices of Cornell University which holds an International Cooperation Ad ministration contract for develop ing the work in research, resident teaching, and extension at the College of Agriculture of the Uni-, versity of the Philippines. Granted Year Leave Conference To Be Held By AAUW The Penivylvania division con: ference of , the American Associa tion of University Women will be held Friday and Saturday at the Nittany Lion Inn. Approximately 225 women rep resenting 45 AAUW branches all over the state have registered to attend the conference which op ens Friday afternoon with a gen eral business session at which Mrs. Herbert W. Anderson, state president, will preside. Business Meeting The business meeting will be gin with the invocation followed by a welcome from David R. Mackey, Burgess of State College. Dr. Pearl 0. Weston, dean of wo men, will extend greetings from the University and Mrs. Paul M. Kendig, president of the State College branch of the AAUW, will speak. Following the business meet ing, a tea for the delegates will be held in the Home Economics Building at which Dr. Grace Hen derson, dean of the College of Home Economics, will speak. Dr. Henderson will also make a few 'remarks on "College Opportuni ties for Pennsylvania Women," at the close of the Saturday lun cheon program. Workshops to Be Held - Members of the State College branch of the AAUW will take part in the workshop on various phases of branch activities Satur day morning. The workshop will include discussion on branch ad ministration, creative arts, educa tion, fellowship, finance and bud get, international relations, legis lation, membership, publicity, pro gram, social studies and status of women. Candidates for WDFM To Meet Tonight at 7 Candidates for WDFM, campus radio station, will meet at 7 to night in 305 Sparks. IVlcelay, now as sistant director of resident in struction and director of short courses in agriculture, has been Going to Philippines named acting associate dean and director of resident instruction by the Trustees. Dr. Fred C. Snyder, a vocation al agriculture teacher in the Mif flinburg public schools and a part time instructor in agricultural education at the University, has been named acting assistant di rector of resident instruction and director of short courses in agri culture. Involves Educational Planning Dr. Dickerson's job at the Uni versity of the Philippines will in volve many phases of educational planning and will include the es tablishing of a modern curricula, the improvement of teaching me thods, the development of library facilities, the acquisition and use of teaching equipment, and the laying out of an overall program of research and teacher training. Since its inception four years ago when four faculty members went to the Islands from Cornell, the project has grown until now there are from twelve to fourteen professors there with their fami lies. NSA Group, APhio to Conduct Textbook Drive Tomorrow The National Student Association committee and Alpha Phi Omega, national service fraternity, will conduct a drive for outdated textbooks tomorrow in conjunction with a na tionwide NSA project. The campus NSA group received a request for books to be sent to foreign students in Africa, India, and Asia, from the national headquarters. The books will be sent to stu dents in these countries who could not otherwise afford them. Alphi Phi Omega members will collect books from fraternities be ginning at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the University-owned station wagons. All fraternities have been request ed to have books in the entrance halls by 6:30 p.m. One person in each fraternity, a member of NSA, Alpha Phi Omega, or a hat society, will be responsible for collecting the books in his house. To Collect in Dorms Gamma Sigma Sigma, national service sorority, and Panhellenic Council, will organize the collec tion of books in the women's / dormitories. Women have been, asked to place books in the car tons that will be provided for them in the main lounge of their' residence hall. Dennis McArver, who also at tended the meeting, was appoint ed regional public relations chair man by Miss Hendel. Delegates to Be Selected The University's delegation to the National Congress will be se lected this week, Tames Musser, campus coordinator, said. The Congress will be held August 21 to 31 at the University of Chicago. The University is allowed to sponsor seven delegates. However, other groups such as Student Councils and student government organizations must have ex pressed interest in each sending a delegate, Musser said. All-University Cabinet last Thursday passed a motion that will allow the NSA committee to select all delegates, whether sponsored by individual groups or as part of the University's allotted delegation. ••••••••••••
