PAGE SIX `Nine' Tabs 14th, 8-4; Lorimer Fans 13 By FRAN FANUCCI Penn State's stratospheric baseball teem continued its surge for a District Two play off berth yesterday when it jolted the Villanova Wildcats, 13-4, at Philadelphia for its 14th win and ninth straight since losing to Army April 25th. Fast-balling Stan Larimer hand cuffed the Wildcats on eight hits while fanning 13 hitters, bringing Iris total strikeouts in two games to 29. The senior hurler has a 4-I record. The Lions. sporting an excel lent 14-2 card, can almost guar antee a playoff berth if they continue their amazing playing in the next week. In yesterday's ball game the Lions required only two innings to achieve victory. They scored Stickmen Guarantee Winning Season, Wallop Lehigh, 15-3 Penn State's lacrosse team assured itself of a winning season for the second straight •ear when it walloped hapless Lehigh 15-3 yesterday afternoon at Beaver Field. The victory was the second in a row for the Lion stickmen and lifted their season rec ord to seven wins and five losses—the same mark posted by the 1955 team. Only two more games remain on the Nittanies' schedule—both on home grounds. Once beaten Rutgers visits the Nittany Vale Saturday and Cornell makes its 1956 appearance one week later. * * * * * * Ten men shared the 15-point scoring total against the Engineers as reserves saw action most of the game. Many of the starters were not even around at the finish for Coach Nick Thiel had sent them to the showers in the early min-1 utes of the third period. At tarkman Tom Seeman broke cut of a one game scoring slump to capture runner-up honors with two goals. Single scores were recorded by Andy Bergeson. Dick Angell, Russ Bovaird, Frank Locotos, Glenn Fiscus. Don Sanders. and John Bonner. It was the first goal of the year for Locotos. The senior letterman was not able to make many trips this year and for this reason he has seen action in only three games. Last year Locotos was fifth in team scoring with ten goals Hess Misses Game Sophomore scoring star Bill Hess did not see action acainst the men from Lehigh. The "Man hasset Marauder," who leads the team in scoring with a record 33 goals, is on the sick list with ton silitis. However, Coach Thiel hopes to have Hess available fcr Saturday's game with nowerful Rutgers. The Lions took an early 4-0 first period lead before the Engi neers dented the. Nittanv goal.
