Mueller, director of housing, clarified regulations con cerning the use of sorority suites during rushing periods at a meet ing of sorority representatives and advisers last night. Mueller stated - that the dormi tories are designated as public buildings, and as such they come under certain state regulations. He also said that the suites are not designed for some sorority rushing activities, He suggested the use of other dormitory rooms, as recreation or study rooms and lounges. for rush ing activities. Mueller stressed fireproofing regulations. All decorating mate rial must be fireproof, and com bustible items such as st r a w. leaves, and sawdust, must be treated with fireproofing mate rial, he said. ' Also emphasized were rules concerning the removal of furni ture from sorority suites. The following rule was mentioned: The use of sorority lounges as party rooms which requires the removal of furniture or furnish ings will be authorized only when other space in the hall is no t available for such occasions. Any removal of furniture or furnish ings must be accomplished by service employees of the Hous ing Department. Party chairmen are to make arrangements with the housekeeper of their building for such services. However, the rearranging of furniture in the suite is allowed, Mueller said, and it may be done by sorority members or with the help of housing department em ployees. He also stated that lighted can dles are permitted if they are used with care. Barbara Nichols, president of Panhellenic Council, announced that the council will meet at 7 p.m. next Tuesday in 203 Hetzel Union Building to vote on the ad mittance or rejection of Sigma Kappa as a new campus sorority.
