PAGE EIGHT Dishonesty Rules (Continued from page one) Involving suspension or expul sion from the University. The committee doubts that many students will appeal de cisions of three faculty members and two studants from their own colleges. These college disciplinary com mittees are already existing un der the present student conduct program. !however, new rule, W-8, delegates more authority and re sponsibility to the committees than under present regulations. They have been limited to hear ing first offenses when no col lusion or secret understanding be-, tween students are involved. The Oita! new rule allows an instructor of a guilty student the means to disenroll the student from the course and give him a grade of "F". The instructor may, with the concurrence of the head of his department, disenroll a stu dent if he wishes, provided he is found guilty. Senate also approved the setting up a new Senate subcommittee, the subcommittee on academic discipline. Its formation will be effective if Senate approves it a second time at its next meeting April 5. The subcommittee would be made up Of the chairman of the 10 college committees on aca demic discipline. It would meet once a semester to exchange infotmation and study mutual problems related to the tune timing of current procedure. WCKIES TASTE BETTER air Cleaner, Freshet; Smoother! The subcommittee's purpose is to eliminate th e controversial classification of dishonesty and scheduling of penalties published last semester. This group of chair men could formulate dishonesty procedures to fit changing con ditions. Its provisions would de pend on the circumstances and its procedures and policies might or might not include standard penal ties. The other "W" rules regard ing conduct of students in the Senate Regulations were un changed as were the "M" rules on grades. The new rules resulted from dissatisfaction shown by the fac ulty of the College of Chemistry and Physics to rule 0-3 which re quires all cases of dishonesty to be reported to a student's dean through the head of a department and the dean of the college in which the dishonesty was com mitted. Folk Dancers to Hold Scandinavian Party The Interlandia Folk Dancers will hold a Scandinavian Party at 7:45 tonight in 3 White Hall. The meeting is open to the pub lic. OH YOU KIDS! LUCKY DROODLES!
