Mortar Board,
Owens Tap 77
Seventy-seven junior and freshman women were tapped at
6 a.m. today by three women's hat societies.
Mortar Board and Scrolls, senior women's hat societies each
tapped 25 women and Cwens, sophomore women's hat society,
tapped 27.
The hat societies wakened tappees in their rooms and later
honored them at tapping break

active chapter from 10 to 11:30
p.m. yesterday and pledged early
this morning following tapping
ceremonies.
Pledges will wear gold and sil
ver ribbons until their initiation
and will wear black mo r tar
boards on' campus today.
Qualifications for membership
to Mortar Board are leadership,
service to the University, and
scholarship.

Bus Ad President
Joseph Ginsberg, former vice
president of the Business Ad
ministration Student Council, was
elected president Tuesday night.
He was the only nominee for
the office.
Edmond Kramer, head of the
open house committee, was elect
ed vice president and Nancy
Blaha, editor of the Biz-Ad Bul
letin, was elected secretary.
Self-nominations fo r council
positions begun at noon yesterday
and will run until noon Saturday.
Council has openings for five
seniors, eight juniors, and six
sophomores. Present members
must re-nominate themselves if
they want to stay on council.
Nomination blanks are available
in 106 Sparks.

Witmer Elected

Charles Witmer, seventh semes
ter industrial arts major, was
elected president of the Education
Student Council Tuesday night.
Other officers elected to the ex
ecutive council are Natalie Mop
kowitz, fourth semester education
major, vice president; and Judith
Hance, fourth semester education
major, secretary-treasurer.
Self nomination blanks for elec
tion to council will be available
until tomorrow at the Hetzel Un
ion desk. Nominees are required
to have a 1.2 All-University av
erage. Elections will be held on
Wednesday and Thursday in front
of Schwab Auditorium.
A banquet will be given for the
old and new council members on
May 17, council decided. It has
not yet been decided where the
