FRIDAY, APRIL 15, 1955 Queens, To Be Former May Queens and past presidents of the Women's Stu dent Government Association will participate in the opening cere monies of May Day, it was announced at a meeting of the WSGA House of Representatives last night. • The past queens and presidents w, ill be honored at a tea at 4:30 p.m. May 7 in .the Hetzel Union, Building following the May Day ceremonies. Class Attendants Class attendants in the court will wear full-1 ength pastel gowns. Seniors will wear orchid, Juniors, pink; sophomores, yellow• and freshman, blue. The Maid of Honor will wear green. Members of the Honor Arch will wear stoles and full-length ,white gowns. Names of the worn 'ken who have been selected for the Honor Arch will be announced on Tuesday. Women participating in the Hemlock Chain will wear full-length pastel gowns. May Pole Dance Twenty-four freshman and 16 sophomore women wearing cot ton skirts and peasant blouses, will dance the traditional May Pole Dance, The ceremonies will take place on the lawn in front of Old Main. In case of inclement weather, they will be held in Recreation Hall. Lit Prof Accepts U of Virginia Post Dr. Frederick L. Gwynn, as sociate professor of English lit erature, has been named to a similar post at the University of Virginia beginning in the fall. Dr. Gwynn came to the Uni tersity from Harvard in 1949. Irrom 1951 until 1952 he served , as assistant professor and Carnegie intern in general education at Yale University. The author of sturge Moore and the Life of Art and co-editor of The Case for Poetry, Dr. Gwynn will become editor of College English, a national monthly mag azine. Cwens to Install Group At St. Lawrence College Nineteen members of Cwens, sophomore women's hat society, will leave at noon today for St. Lawrence College, Canton, N.Y., to attend installation ceremonies of a new Cwens chapter there. The women, accompanied by Miss Jeanne Lindaman, assistant to the dean of women, will return Sunday afternoon. Spring, Enrollment Lists 2536 Vets More than 2500 veterans are enrolled at the. University for the spring semester according to Dr. C. 0. Williams, dean of admis sions and registrar. The total of 2536 includes 1760 veterans on the main, Campus and 776 at Penn State centers and the Mont Alto, branch of the 'Penn sylvania gtate Forestry School, Williams said. Included in thd- total are 198 veterans of World War II and 2338 who qualify for benefits un der legislation passed during the Korean fighting. Williams said that 1004 of the veterans are freshman, 657 are sophomores,4 427 are juniors,. 188 are seniors and more than 250 are doing graduate work. Men's Glee Club Opens . Spririg Concert Series The Men's Glee Club .will open the first of a series of spring con certi today at the Bellefonte High School, David Hubert, publicity director, has 'announced. The group will also sing Saturday ev ening at the Grier School in Ty rone.
