PAGE EIGHT TIM Dance To Feature Band Concert The annual Spring Dance of the Town Independent Men will have a "So You Want to Lead A Band" contest as its highlight. The contest will be patterned after the Sammy Kaye television show of the same name. Con testants lead the band for one musical number. Judging is based on the conducting ability shown. The semi-formal dance will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday in the Hetzel Union ballroom. Music will be provided by the Campuseers, who will also conduct the contest. Anyone at tending the dance may compete. Three winners will he chosen, and prizes, donated by local mer chants, will be awarded for first, second, and third places. Marvin Bollman, TIM social chairman, has announced there will be no admission charge for the dance. Couples only will be admitted but men do not have to be members of TIM. Cabinet (Continued from page one) sity vice president, junior and sophomore class presidents, traf fic court committee members, student handbook editors, junior and • senior prom chairmen, and Spring Week chairman and busi ness manager. Groups that have been dropped from the proposed budget en tirely are National Student Asso ciation, $600; Tribunal, $2O; Traf fice Court, $3O; and the Annual Report, $4OO. However, the Senior Class Permanent Reunion Fund was upped from $1750 to $2OOO and the carry-over fund from $l6OO to $2OOO. It will also be proposed that a Student - Faculty-Administrative board be set up in each college to consider student appeals on educational procedures and stan dards. The various college student councils would act as preliminary screening boards for student ap peals, then sending them on the Student-Faculty board. Robert Dennis, AIM president, who wrote the report, said that students should have the right to express his opinion on the meth ods of education in his college. Cabinet will also hear a pro posal for a Joint Student Com mittee on Town Affairs, which is suggested by the Town Inde pendent Association. The joint committee would be a liaison between town students and the town and would make reports on town affairs to inter ested groups. The committee will be com posed of a member from Asso ciation of Independent Men, In terfraternity Council, Women's Student Government Association Cabinet, and an adviser from the Dean of Men's office. The commit tee would not have legislative powers. The University had opened its doors to students only three years before the Civil War broke out.
