The number of votes received by each candidate was not re leased. The elections committee said, "The May Day committee will not release the votes because this is an election of a different calibre than WSGA Senate or WRA elections in that entirely different qualifications are con sidered in each. Candidates for WSGA and WRA' are self-nomi nated, whereas May Queen candi dates are nominated through dormitory units. It has not been the policy in previous years to release May Day results." • ' Charlotte Klippel, sixth semes ter, physical education major, and Patricia Olkkonen, seventh se- . mester recreation major, will act as jesters for the May Court. Ceremonies for the thirty-sec ond May Day will honor past May Queens of the University and past WSGA presidents. The tentative program is (1) the welcome to parents, friends and guests; (2) the processional, with the hemlock chain and the honor arch participation; (3) the presentation of the crown, scep ter, and the world to the queen; (4) folk dances; (5) the May Pole dance; and (6) the recessional. Senior girls interested in being paxt of the Hemlock Chain should call Ann Bebbe, 55 Atherton. The deadline for signing up for the Hemlock Chain is April 4. The members of the May Court will meet next week. Hibbs Absent; Enters Hospital Mrs. Cordelia L. Hibbs, assistant to the dean of women, has left' her duties temporarily because of illness. . She was taken by ambulance to Pittsburgh Tuesday on the ad vice 'of her doctor. Mrs. Hibbs is presently in room 341, Mercy Hos pital, Pittsburgh. , Dean of Women Pearl Or Wes ton will visit Mrs. Hibbs in Pitts burgh this weekend. Dean Weston aril Ruth I. Nancy Scofield, eighth se arts and letters major, finalists Air Force To Sponsor New Course The department, of air science will sponsor a six weeks course, "The Life of the Service Wife," for women who are, or who are planning to be, wives of Men serving in the Air Force. The course will begin at 7:10 p.m. April 13 in 110 Electrical Engineering. The first discussion will be "The Armed Forces," an orientation to the course. Defense functions, service customs and courtesies, and matters pertaining to rank will be discussed. "Base Living"will be the topic on April 20. Security Measures, job opportunities, and special ser vices and activities will .be ex plained. "Socializing" is the topic for the third class, to be held April 27:ii general picture of base com munities and formal and informal entertaining will be presented. Orders, processing, packing and shipping facilities for, household effects, and transportation and travel will be discussed on May 4. The topic will be "Overseas" on May 11. This program will explain relationships with. . citizens of other countries and educational and travel 'facilities abroad. The final class discussion will be "Personal Affairs," which will explain pay and ,allowances,• al lotments, and insurance and re tirement plans of the Air Force. WSGA Convocation To Hear Schleman Helen B. Schleman, dean of women at Purdue University, will address the Women's Student Government Association Convocation at 7 p.m. Monday in Simmons lounge. Her topic will be "The Role of the Educated Woman in Civic Affairs." Miss Schleman received her B.S. degree from Northwestern University, an M.S. from Wellesley College, and a second M.S. de gree froin Purdue University. During World War 11, Miss Schleman served as a captain in the Coast Guard. She was also di rector of the Women's Reserve. She was an instructor at Ohio State University, and has been director of residence halls for wo men at Purdue University. She became dean of women at Purdue in 1947. Directed Housemother Program Miss Schleman has also been in charge of a housemothers' summer training program at Pur due University. Several local fraternity housemothers have at tended the program. She is national vice president of Alpha Lambda Delta, fresh man women's scholastic honor so ciety, and a member of Mortar Board, senior women's honor so ciety. . Miss Schleman is co-author of "Your Best Foot Forward," an etiquette book for college fresh men. Sponsored by Senate Convocation is sponsored an nually by WSGA Senate.
