I Stag ' Dinner
At White House
Dr. Milton S. Eisenhower, presi
dent of the University, was among
the guests at President Dwight
D. Eisenhower’s “stag” dinner
Saturday night in Washington
which followed the White House
announcement that th guest lists
of future dinners will not be re
vealed.
A split between *he administra
tion and the press appeared like
ly following the announcement by
Press Secretary James C. Hager
ty that the “affairs were personal
and private” and the ” r hite House
did not desire to give any pub
licity to the guest lists.
The New Yqrk Times reported
that Hagerty, when reminded that
the Eisenhower administration
had promised more, not less news,
“slowly and audibly counted to
ten to control his temper before
answering.” Then, he said, the
Times reported, no defense of the
decision was necessary.
