Reiss Liked
'Mr. Roberts'
(But He Was III)
The show must go on and, ap
parently, the review 'must come
out.
So, when Daily Collegian re
viewer Edmnd Reiss developed
what he thought was a case of
appendicitis dur in g Thursday
night's opening of• Players' "Mr.
Roberts,' he hastened himself to
the University hospital.
Reiss, who has often raised the
ire of University dramatists by
panning their productions, dic
tated his review from the hospital
to the' Collegian office. He had
watched Wednesday night's dress
rehearsal, and the first act of
Thursday's perforMance.
Reiss liked the show. In his re
view he termed it "most rollock
ing, most entertaining . . ."
After reading Reiss' review yes
terday, one student cynically com
mented: "Great Scott! Reiss liked
a Players show. He must have
been sick!"
It developed yesterday that
Reiss doesn't have appendicitis,
after all. After consultation with
two doctors he offered this diag
nosis last night:
"I have an inflamed something
or other of the intestinal some
thing or other."
