The panel radio program to be given by Leonides and the Cos mopolitan Club, campus organiza tion' of international students, during UN Week will be headed by, Vaclav Mares, .associate’pro fessor of economics and a former official in the Czechoslavakian government, Janice Holm, radio chairman, has announced. The program will be given from 8 to 8:30. p.m. Oct. 20 over WDFM and will include a discussion by an' international panel and folk music recorded by students. • Leonides Council voted to spon sor Jesse Arnelle, All-University president, for the title of “Mr. Penn State.” Betty Buchanan announced that the Red Cross bloodmobile will be stationed at the Temporary Union Building Nov. 10 and 11. She urged .council members to pub licize the drive. Leonides president Joan Pack ard announced that council will meet every week instead of every other week as the constitution spe cifies, .and that Leonides units should meet with their represen tatives twice a month. , and Barbara Summers, alternate. Junior Prom Queen. Photos Due Oct> 26 - Photographs Of Junior Prom Queen candidates may be turned in to the Student Union desk in Old Main until Oct. 26. Photographs should be 5-inch by 7-inch or 8-inch by 10-inch. The name, address, telephone number, and sponsor of each, can didate should be written on -the back of the photograph. Candidates must he juniors en rolled at the University. Any fra ternity, sorority, or independent may sponsor one entry. A committee of 15 juniors -will select the five finalists. Inter views by the committee will be held Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. Members of the junior class may vote to select the queen from the five finalists Nov.. 1 through Nov. 4 at the Student Union desk in Old Main. Matriculation cards will be required for voting. The queen will be crowned dur ing the intermission of the Junior Prom, Nov. 5. Trabue Submits High School, .. Contract Plan Marion R. Trabue, dean of the College of Education, suggested to the Education Student Council recently that a contract program be set up for high school students interested in attending the Uni versity and becoming teachers. Trabue’s suggestion was prompt ed by a study made of Pennsyl vania high school students show ing that a sizable number planned tb enter Penn State in education. Trabue brought to the atten tion of council the problem of books being removed from room 114 in Pattee Library, recently set up especially for education students. The contest is open to undergraduate women enrolled in accredited colleges and universities. _ Each entrant must submit a 1500 word criticism of Mademoiselle’s August issue. Each writer is asked to discuss the issue as a whole and then criticize in detail the field that interests her most Entrants may enclose a sample of work such as poetry or short stories, and must give name, class year, college and home address, major and minor curriculums, ex tracurricular activities and sum mer jobs. College board members are chosen from these contestants and are given three assignments. Twenty board members are then selected to spend the month of June in the Mademoiselle offices. The guest editors help write and illustrate the 1955 August college issue. According to contest rules, en tries must be typewritten and sent to College Editor, Mademoi selle, 575 Madison Avenue, New York 22, N.Y., postmarked no later than Nov. 30.
