Students Participate
In Church Groups
Students’ participation in religious activities while at the Uni
versity is furthered by 14 student organizations sponsored by the
State College churches.
In addition to these student groups, the University Christian
Association, formed last spring from the Penn State Christian Asso
ciation, represents the Protestant students

<hf the University Baptist Church
holds a Sunday student class at
9:40 a.m. before the 10:45 a.m.
morning worship. The group holds
a Sunday evening meeting which
includes supper, evening worship,
and a fellowship program. The
fellowship has ' a choir which
meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays at
the student center, Nittany avenue
and Burrowes street.
Divine Liturgy is held three
times each semester by theEasi

ciety at the St. Andrews Church,
316 S. Frazier street.
y The Newman Club of Our Lady
of Victory Church,- 215 W. Fair
mount avenue,, holds Sunday
masses at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30,
and 11:30 a.m. at the Church. The
Catholic Students’ Center is lo
cated next to the Church. Activi
ties and meetings are held each

The Canterbury Club of St. An
drew’s Episcopal Church, 316 S.
Frazier street, holds programs of
activities, discussion, and study.-

days is 7:45 a.m., Holy Commun
ion; 9:30 and 10:45 a.m., Morning
Prayer and Sermon; 5:30 p.fn.,
Canterbury Group supper; and
6:30 p.m., Canterbury Group meet
ing.

The Evangelical United Breih
em Fellowship of St. John’s Evan
gelical United Brethren Church,

dent Sunday School class. The
program of the fellowship includes
monthly dinners and parties
cabin parties, Bible study, depu
tation teams, and Social Service
projects.
The Young Friends Group of the
State College Friends Meeting

lar Sunday meetings: 9:30 a.m.

The Penn State Bible Fellow
, ship, chapter of the Inter-Varsity
Christian Fellowship, is an inter
denominational and evangelical
student organization. A program
of Bible studies, prayer meetings,
and Bible conferences is conducted
throughout the school year. Regu
lar meetings are held at 7:30 p.m.
on Fridays in 405 1 Old Main. A
Sunday Bible study is held at
3 p.m. in 418 Oid Main.
The 3'Nai B'rith Hillel Foun
dation, 224 Locust lane, holds. so
cial, religious, cultural; athletic
1 dramatic, and musical activities
of interest to the Jewish student
on campus. A newspaper is pub
lished monthly. Regular Friday
night. services are held at 8 p.m.

The Lutheran Student Associa
tion of the Grace Lutheran

class competition in seasonal
sports, and outdoor events.
The Wesley Foundation of the
St. Paul’s Methodist Church hold
an annual banquet, picnics, a

vices, 8:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m., and
7:30 p.m.; Studies in Christian
Living, 9:30 a.m.; Fellowship sup

The Westminster Student Fel
lowship of the Presbyterian
Church, Beaver avenue at Frazier
street, is the Presbyterian student
group oh campus. A breakfast is
held on Sunday at 8:50 a.m. fol
lowed by a worship, service. Four
seminars are held after worship
until 10:30. A regular Sunday ev
ening program is held at 6:20.
Matin is held at 7 a.m. Thursdays,
and at 7 p.m. Thursday, Bible
Study.
The Emerson Society of the
Unitarian Church holds regular
Sunday evening meetings at 6:15
p.m. in 304 Old Main. The meet
ings are usually in the form of
discussions. Suppers and other so
cial events are also sponsored by
the society.

Student church groups plan the
following weekend activities
Wesley Foundation —a party for
all students at 7:30 tonight at the
Foundation. Open house will be
held tomorrow. A coffee hour will
be held at 9:15 a.m. Sunday fol
lowed ' by the student church
school meeting.' Supper, followed
by-a worship service, will begin
at 5:15 p.m. Sunday at the Foun
dation.
Lutheran Student Association—
Open house at 7:30 tonight at the
student center. The student church
school class will meet at 9:30 a.m.
Sunday in the Grace Lutheran
Church. Arthur H. Reede, profes
sor of economics, will speak at
the worship service at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, which will be followed
by a. coffee hour.
Hillel Foundation —A lox and
bagel brunch will be held at the
Foundation at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
The price for members is 25 cents;
for non-members, 65 cents.
Faith Evangelical and Reformed
Student Fellowship—A get-ac
quainted supper will be held ,at
the 5:30 p.m. Sunday for
all Evangelical and Reformed and
Congregational students.
Westminster Foundation The
Westminster Council will hold a
retreat near Warriors’ Mark to-,
