T? 54 KAPsi Track Kappa Alpha Psi retained’the intramural track and Afield championship on the Beaver Field track last night, outclass ing the fraternity field the last three nights of athletic rivalry. The champs will be presented a trophy to go along with the one . they won last year. Kappa Alpha Psi copped the title with 20 points. Phi Delta Theta was second with 14 2/3 markers and Alpha Zeta with 11 points was third. Sigma Nu placed; fourth with six. The . spotlight last night was both on a veteran track performer and an athlete who never before ran high, school track. Both com petitors copped individual crowns. Milsom Wins 100 John Milsom, Alpha Zeta vet eran performer, successfully de fended his 100 yard dash crown which he won last year. Milsom was clocked in 0:10.6. Last year the same Milsom won the title in 0:10.4, Second in the 1(F was Frank Schwab, Phi Delta Theta. Bob Al lison, Phi Delta Theta, was third and George Unger, Alpha Gamma Rhb, was fourth. Schwab, a performer on the cinders for the first time, came back fifteen minutes later and out raced the field in the 440, to cop the - title in 53.1. Milsom, who . led most of the backstretch, fell <back and settled for second place. Jim Brewer, Kappa Alpha Psi, led around the final turn of the 440 and- took third. Wendell To land, KAPsi, was fourth, and Dave Barney, Sigma Nu, was fifth. Champs Win Third Kappa Alpha Psi won its third blue - ribbon of the three-day championship program as its 880 relay team was forced to go all out to win in 1:36.6. The champs set a new intramural mark ■in the relay when they ran 1:36.1 in Tuesday’s preliminaries. Kaye Vinson, Delta Upsilon an chor runner, brought his team a second place finish after outracing Sigma Nu. Sigma Chi was fourth, barely missing a second place. Alpha Gamma Rho placed fifth. In the feature independent event of the night, Tom Werner won the 100 yard dash in 0:10.8. Three yards behind were George Weimer arid Gerry Werner. Wei mer barely edged Werner for sec ond place. PIAA Tourneys Open Today Thirty-six holes of golf and a half dozen tennis matches tomor row begin Pennsylvania’s annual scholastic triple, sports show: High school athletes from every part of the state began arriving here last night to compete in the two-day. state PIAA golf, tennis, and track and field champion ships. The final tennis and golf rounds, and, the entire 28th annual track meet is scheduled for Sat urday. The 54-hole golf tourney, with more than 60 entries, will produce a new state champ to succeed Ken Fisher, Penn Twp., who was a senior last year. And the tennis tourney, with entries from 7 of the state’s_ 12 PIAA districts,' will end with' the crowning of new singles and doubles winners. Suburban Philadelphia athletes will be trying for the third con secutive year to gather in top honors in the track meet. In the' last two meets the District 1 en tries ran off with team . honors. Both times District 7, the WPIAL covering the suburban Pittsburgh area, finished second in the class A events.
