No matter what they say in at tacking Lion’s Paw, they are at tacking the integrity of each and every member of the organization, Gibbs said. They ,dp this even though Lion’s Paw includes the men who' have been voted" by the students to be their ledders and representatives to the University. Presents Facts 'Straight* Concerning the ‘clean-up cam pus politics’ meeting, Gibbs said, “Let’s get the facts straight. I respectfully submit that- Lyon misrepresented the facts, told half truths, -and suggested false con clusions. “Here are the facts: - “1. The meeting was initiated by Dunlap, Herbein,. and myself. “2. The purpose was to give the students certain facts concerning the manner in which political parties -are run on campus. Also, to-make a good campaign possible by accomplishing the nomination of Smoot as State Party candidate. It was felt by the committee that a good campaign draws more stu dent interest and that the only way in which a good campaign posed of William Evans, Con stance Eickleman, and George Ol iver. Costume crew members are Cynthia West, Marta Harris, Jack ie Mulcey, and Shirley Van-Sant. House crew is Robert Kokat. Makeup crew members are Alyce Mears, Morton Slakoff, Rho d a Schwartz, Millis Mershon, and John Thomas. *»* tms ' I'TOBAcSCO- ■mp-DHirr correGTAW sthte con rag l ,„ <«««■ t > ftler! . teste better to thousand, of estiondesi-i’ I,UCkieS better, No ■«gZ2& ® i3 f t *‘ T^aß, fin® tobacco. { lucky up a* ' igM ’ «*»&** go enjoy be ttet ng can be carried on is to have two strong men opposing each other. “3. The fact that All-University elections committee was to meet on Thursday, : at which time final nominations were to be made by the clique chairmen for that com mittee’s approval, was what de termined the date of the meeting, not whether some of the princi pals; involved were out of town. “4. Upon our request, certain facts were supplied to us. “5. Dunlap and I contacted John Fink, State Party clique chair man, and asked him if he would accept Smoot as the State Party’s candidate for All-University pres ident if Lewis Wade, State, Party’s nominee for All-University presi dent, would resign. Wade Writes Letter “6. Lew Wade wrote a letter stating'his desire to resign. “7. This letter was given to Ly on,, the same man who is now at tacking the meeting and the back ers. “8. Lyon gave the letter to Ken neth White, former State Party clique chairman. “9. Ken White called a member of Lion’s Paw and tried to bribe him with the letter. “10. When White found he could not get what he wanted, White and Rae Delle Donne, clique secretary of the State Par ty, went to see Wade and more or less forced him to refute his ear lier letter and thus remain as a candidate. “1. At the meeting certain facts Inf'll were made public concerning the padding of the Lion Party mem bership rules, the way in which Arnelle was nominated, the tie-up between Richard Kirschner, for mer Lion Party clique chairman, and Benjamin Sinclair, then Lion Party clique chairman, with the qualified charge being made that Kirschner was the real head of the Lion Party. “These are the facts as I very well know them,” Gibbs stated. “It was unfortunate that Arnelle was the candidate of the Lion Party since he was inadvertantly caught in the middle during some of the heated arguments at the meeting. It is true that those who were against the action of the committee were those who brought up Arnelle’s name, .not us.” In conclusion Gibbs stated, “This is our side of the story. This is the way it happened. “Don’t be stampeded into a hasty decision on this subject by men with glib tongues or debat ing trophies.” Banquet to Honor Phys Ed Seniors Seniors in the College of Physi cal Education and Athletics will be honored at a banquet at 7 to night at the Allencrest Tea Rpom. ■ Approximately 36 seniors are expected to attend the banquet, sponsored by the Physical Educa tion Student Council.
