PAGE EIGHT Fifth Horse Show Will Begin Today The fifth annual horse show sponsored by the University Riding Club will begin at 1 p.m. today at the University stables. It will con tinue tomorrow: morning and afternoon and Sunday afternoon. Today's program will consist of warm up jumpeis, novice horse manship, open working hunter, intermediate horsemanship, knock down and out, and intermediate horseman Ship jumping. Tomorrow's show will begin at 8 a.m. with the first phase of a modified Olympic event, which is being used for the first time. The first phase consists of a dressing test, testing the coordination, sup pleness. and instantaneous and ab solute response of the horse to the rider's demands. The second phase of the modi fied Olympic event will begin the afternoon schedule at 1:30 p.m. The second phase is a cross-coun-. try endurance test, showing 'the ability of a horse to move cross ' country rapidly and safely with a minimum of strain. The remaining afternoon sched ule will consist of children's horse manship, open stock horse, hunt er hack. western parade horse, and advanced horsemanship. Begins at 1 la.m. Sunday _ 'Bermuda Day' Proclaimed By Grove Today is Bermuda Shorts Day. Bermudas and knee socks will be the standard wearing apparel for many men on campus. Bare knees will be seen in classes. The idea originated Sunday night when Daniel Grove, ninth semester arts and letters major and WMAJ announcer, announc ed on "Groovology" that Friday, April 30, would be Bermuda Shorts Day. Grove said that the more stu dents who wear Bermuda shorts, the less they will be noticed. Although the Dean of Women's office has ruled that women may not wear Bermuda shorts for any purpose other than a recreational activity, men today will wear their shorts to classes and around campus. Grove also said: "It is hoped that not only today but everyday will be Bermuda Shorts Day on the Penn State campus." Caps, Gowns Orders :Graduating seniors in home eco nomics and mineral industries may place orders for caps and gowns today and tomorrow at the Athletic Store. A. $5 deposit is required for cap and gown orders. Invitations and announcements may be ordered at the Student Union desk in Old Main according to the same schedule. Senior Ball Richard Hay►nan The Sunday show will begin at 1 p.m. with advanced horseman ship jumping and morgan exhibi tion. The third phase of the modi field Olympic event, which con sists of ring .jumping to test the physical and mental fitness of the horses. It will begin at 2 p.m. Other classes will include ap pointment hunters, open pleasure horse. Riding Club trophy, mor gan under saddle, go as you please, hunt teams, and Centre County pleasure horse. An exhibitor's banquet will be held at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Allencrest Tea Room. Judges of the show will be Mr. and Mrs.- Alden McKim Crane, Washington, D.C.
