PAGE EIGHT Elections (Continued frau:. page one) of three cuts per semester. The State Party, in its plat form, proposes a plan to elimi nate Saturday classes-. and calls for a plan under which ill stu dents not admitted to the Uni versity Hospital may get ex cused from class. The platform also calls for a committee to streamline student government; proposes the University pub lish a booklet on research un derway in the nine Colleges; and pledges support for Cen. termial celebration plans. The only flare of controversy during the campaign came when the Lion Party disputed the All - University elections committee's decision to throw out a plank calling for reinsti tution of the former interpre tation of the social dating code in. fraternities. The elections committee felt the issue con cerned only the Inter - fraternity Council and, therefore, should not be an issue in an All-Uni versity election. The Lion Party later yielded to the ruling of the elections committee and withdrew the plank from its platform. The party, however, said they would campaign on the "un written plank." When a council member asked why the administration thought many students were taking these trips, Euwema said the first com plaints had come from Food Ser vice. He said Food Service au thorities in women's dormitories said too many coeds were going on weekend trips, and there was high absenteeism in dining halls for weekend meals. Euewam said he was not aware of the idea that Saturday classes had been reinstated to secure more classroom appropriations from the legislature. He agreed, however, that this might be a pos sible political reason. Closer Unity— (Continued from page one) both councils closer together.
