While vie are in college, there are two alternatives in respect to
our religious development.
On the one hand, we may settle for the relatively shallow under
standing which we inherit from childhood. On the other hand, we
may admit the possibility of a deeper understanding and seek it,
coming to a more mature and intellectually responsible Christian faith.
It is inevitable that the ideas of religion which we had at the
age of ten or fifteen will be inadequate for adulthood. This inade
quacy is especially apparent during college 'years when the mind is .
stimulated to new understandings of life by the sciences and arts, but
allowed sometimes to' atrophy for want of the samd stimulation by
religious thought.
It is with the hope of providing some of this stimulation thai the
churches of State College direct their programs both to worship and
to study
