for business.
The new Wing, in its 25th month
of construction, will be opened

Ralph. W. McComb, librarian,
said the new wing will swell the
total working capacity to nearly
600,000 volumes. McComb said
the new stacks on the ground
floor alone will provide facilities
for as many books as are cur

the original building.
Graduate students and faculty
will be provided study 'facilities
with -the addition of 168 carrells
to the 60 'now located in the li

than 400 students.
The east and west reading

formed by the removal of two
partitions and a corridor between
the former newspaper room and
the open shelf reserve room. A
similar arrangement will befound
on the second floor where the
new west room with adjoining
stacks will be used for periodi
cals.
The main circulation, desk will
be moved to the east room on the
second floor. Chairs and tables
in this room will provide work,
ing space for students using books
that may not be taken from the
library.
A pneumatic tube system from
the main circulation desk to the
stacks will provide transmission
of requests for books and a book
conveyer will automatically carry
books to the desk. Two book lifts
