Compensation -
(Continued from vatic , four)
Junior and Senior Prom com
mittee members are paid a total
of $5O.
Under action taken by cabinet
last night, eight school council
presidents will receive $l5 each
and the Interschool Council
Board chairman will receive $25.
There appears to be little or
no difference in scholarships
and compensation. This mone
tary reward is not intended as
payment for the job executed,
but merely as an extra pat on
the back and added incentive
for those holding compensa
tory positions. It is intended
as a partial repayment for
time and work put into a job.
This compensation goes to
both elected and appointed of
ficials.
Some students claim the com
pensation idea is out of hand.
These people say student gov
ernment -officers should work
not for pay but - for service.
These people who would do
away altogether with compensa
tion are generally not close to
the amount of work a student
government officer puts into his
job.

There are similar places where
compensation is justified: In
other instances, compensation is
too high. ) •
Those who believe students
go into activities for money
had better first look at what
:he pay would mean in terms
of cents per hour. Student ac
tivities are not paying affairs.
The best solution, then, would
be a complete study of the com
pensation system. Such a study
could produce possible cuts and
increases in compensation. But
compensation must not be un
wisely abolished, or highly in
creased, without such a study.

The main trouble with the ma

mouthed their speeches, and at
times all the audience could-hear
was a jumble of sounds. Fenton,
in particular was guilty
