PAGE EIGHT Rec Conclave To End Today With Luncheon The sixth annual Pennsylvania Recreation Conference will end at 12:15 p.m. today with a lun cheon at the Nittany Lion Inn. Samuel Cooperman, associate. superintendent on recreation, Al lentown, and Mickey McConnell, coordinator of youth activities, U.S. Rubber Co., New York, will speak on "Midget Sports in the Recreation Program"' at the lun cheon. Workshop groups will begin at 9 a.m. today. Workshop group A, under the direction of Kenneth Abell, State Planning Board recreation con sultant, Harrisburg, will discuss the problems of municipal offi cers and recreation board mem bers. Group B, chaired by George Sargisson, Recreation and Service, Inc. executive director, Wilming ton, Del., will function as an idea clinic in 105 Agriculture. Group C, headed by Ruth Swe zey, recreation director of the Wyoming Valley Recreation and Playground Association, Wilkes- Barre, will discuss recreation pro grams for women in 210 Agricul ture. Group D, under Dr. Marian Sack, Radnor elementary school principal, Wayne, will discuss problems of the school adminis trator and school camping in 306 Agriculture. A. W. Castle, extension educ tion chief, Harrisburg Depart ment of Public Instruction, will speak on "Legislative Changes in the Extension Act" at the 11 a.m. general meeting in 121 Sparks. Under action taken by cabinet last night, eight school council presidents will receive $l5 each and the Interschool Council Board chairman will receive $25. There appears to be little or no difference in scholarships and compensation. This mone tary reward is not intended as payment for the job executed, but merely as an extra pat on the back and added incentive for those holding compensa tory positions. It is intended as a partial repayment for time and work put into a job. This compensation goes to both elected and appointed of ficials. Some students claim the com pensation idea is out of hand. These people say student gov ernment -officers should work not for pay but - for service. These people who would do away altogether with compensa tion are generally not close to the amount of work a student government officer puts into his job. There are places where com- NOW!
