The drama reading event will be held at 3 tonight. Constance Melvin, representing the College, has chosen to read from Terence Rattigan's "T h e Winslow Boy." Excerpts will be read from "Hamlet," by William Shakes peare, "Death Takes a Holiday" by Alberto Casella, "Our Town" by Thornton Wilder, "Of Mice and Men," by John Steinbeck and "I Remember Mama" by John Van Druten. The festival banquet will be held at 5:30 p.m. today at the Nit tany Lion Inn. Mary Jane Kelley will act as mistress of ceremonies for the affair. Guest speaker at the banquet will be Dr. Lois Hys lop who will speak on the subject "Two Poetic Worlds," the story of the connection of the works and lives of the French author Baude laire and America's Poe. A coffee hour will be held at the home of Dr. Robert T. Oliver, head of the Department of Speech, following the program. Partici pants of the festival may attend the' affair. The first event on tomorrow's program will be a long poem divi sion which will begin at 9:30 a.m. Some of the selections in this divi sion are "Lucy Weatherby and Sally Dupre" by Stephen Vincent Benet, Milton's "Paradise Lost," and T. S. Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Arthur Prufrock." The College will be represented in this session by Margaret Rob erts who will read Robert Brown ing's "Pied Piper of Hamelin." At 10:30 a.m. the short story reading session will begin. "Tell- Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe, selections from "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoi, and Montgomery Culver's "Black Water? will be included in the program. The final event in the festival will be the reading hour, consist ing of all types of literature, to be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow. • Four Student Chairmen Margaret Troutman will enter this event for the College by read ing from Nathan's "Portrait of Jennie." Other selections on the program are "Home Burial" by Robert Frost, "The Glorious Whitewasher" by Mark Twain, and excerpts from Shakespeare's "As You Like It." Student chairmen for the read ing sessions will be Ann Wylie, Jay Murphy, Charles Gaunt, and William Musser. Reading sessions will not be judged. Marriage..J Allen-Newman Mr. Edward Newman of Beth lehem recently announced the marriage of his daughter, Myrna, o Lawrence Allen of Philadelphia. Mrs. Allen was graduated from the College in 1952. She was a member of Phi Sigma Sigma. Mr. Allen, also a graduate of the College, was a member of Pi Lambda Phi. The council discussed a suggestion by the Rev. Luther Harsh barger, College chaplain, that there be two chapel services on Mothers' Day, and that sorority women attend the earlier one at 10:30 a.m. The second service would be held at 11:30 p.m. Coun cil members were asked to take the suggestion back to their sor orities for discussion and voting. The council decided to partici pate in competition for the Fra ternity Month Award, a cup to be awarded and rotated among out standing Panhellenic councils by National Panhellenic. Joy Schil ler will submit the required re port by June 30. Rosanne Monack reported that requirements for the Panhellenic scholarships have been revised to require that applicants have a 1.0 All-College average. Ona Kay Lee listed committees for the tea the council will spon sor for freshman women from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in McElwain lounge. Miss Wandel said the State Col lege Chamber of Commerce has requested that the council enter tain at lunch seven high school seniors who will be in town for judging for Rose Queen May 23. The next meeting of the council will be held May 19 in the Delta Zeta suite. Players in 'Medium' To Sing at Hillel Motion picture stars Donald Morgan and Belva Kibler will ap pear in a song recital to be pre sented Monday at the Hillel Foun dation auditorium. The queen will reign over - the 1953 Penn State Dairy Exposition on May 9. Finalists for the title are Susan Strom, third semester home eco nomics major from Wilmington, Del., sponsored by Kappa Alpha Theta; Marion Kalbach, third sem ester education major from Read ing, sponsored by Alpha Zeta; and Alice Conrad, third semester education major from Washing ton, D.C., sponsored by the Penn State Poultry Club.
