During
,World War II Charles Laughtori, well knOwn actor of
!stage and screen. announced that
he would entertain the wounded
soldiers by reading aloud: As his
selection he chose readings from
the Bible.
Laughton proceeded to read
Bible stories, along with works
of Shakespeare and, as the Christ-1
ian Science Monitor said, time
after time he left with his audi ,
ence "a warm and personal ex
perience." From these readings
Laughton brought a renewed art
to television and the theater.

Mr. and Mrs. Erich Krien' of
Yonkers, N.Y., announce the en

garet, to Paul Margolf, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Margolf of

Miss Krien, ,a graduate of New
York University, .is now music
director in the public schools of
Oceanside, Long Island, N.Y. Mr.
Margolf, a graduate of the Col
lege, is now studying for his
doctor's degree in music educa
tion at New York University. He

Mr. and 'Mrs. Harry A. Grubb
of Altoona have announced the

Mary Jane to. William Lysinger,
son of Mrs. W. Ross Lysinger of
Bedford.
Miss Grubb is a member of
Gamma Phi Beta and is a senior
in medical technology.

the Beaux Arts ball to be held

Tickets for the dance, which will
last from 9 p.m. to midnight, are
on sale at the Student Union desk
for $1.50 per couple. They , will
also be sold at the door on the
night, of the dance. •

Players and the American Insti
tue of Architects, the ball will be
a costume dance featuring Jack
Jenkins' orchestra. Although cos
tumes are optional; prizes •will be
given to the persons wearing the
best outfits:
The Players will present a 45
minute melodramatic skit at the

the new chairman , of the fresh
man women's regulations board at
6:30 tonight in White Hall. The
board chairman will be co-chair

Regulations Board.
Senate will also hear plans for
a. WSGA 'retreat; to be held next

Four Represent College

The fifth celebration of this fes
tival will be held at the College
April 30 and May 1 and will be
under the direction of Mrs. Har
riett D. Nesbitt and William W.
Hamilton, assistant professors of
speech. Letters have been sent to
80 colleges in the state inviting
them to send delegates to the
festival.

short poem division, Margaret
Roberts in the long poem divi
sion, Margaret Troutman taking
part in 'the reading hour with a

Grimm Receives
Edith Chase Award
Gale Grimm, eighth semester
.home economics major, has been
awarded the Edith P. Chase
Award for demonstration of ex
cellent citizenship and profession
al interest.
Miss Grimm is majoring in in
stitution administration and is a
member of Phi Upsilon Omicron,
and president of Omicron Nu.
Both are honie economics honor
ary societies.
Miss Grimm is also a member
of Delta Ganima, the Penn State
Women's Chorus, the Home Eco
nomics Club, and the Home Eco=
mimics Student-Faculty Board.
Harshbarger to Speak
At Presbyterian Church
The Rev. Luther Harshbarger,
College chaplain, will speak at 8
tonight at the inspirational serv
ice of the conference of the Penn
sylvania Council of Church Wom
en at. the State College-Presby
terian Church.
The Rev. Harshbarger is speak
ing in place of Muriel Lester of
London, England, whose talk was
canceled this week because of
illness. The service is open to the
public.

'Alice in Waterioncr
"Alice in Waterland," developed from the book and movie "Alice
in Wonderland," 'will be the theme of the 13th, annual aquacade,
given by the Swimming,Club of the Women's Recreation Association.
Shows will be given at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday in White
Hall. There will also be a dress rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow for
coeds who wish to attend.
Free tickets for Friday and Saturday night performances may
be obtained from participants. No

titled "The Whirlpool," directed
by Helen Davis. Nancy Fisher as

White Rabbit Theme
Next will be "Walking Through
Waterland," which includes diving

The third act, "Meeting the
White Rabbit," will be directed
by Peggy Crooks. Presenting it
will be Nancy Lusk as the white
rabbit, Miss Fisher as Alice, San
dra Dahlinger, Peggy Davis,
Marie-Louise Kean, and Barbara
Wilson.
"Tweedle Dum and Tweedle
Dee" is a duet by Helen Davis
and Eleanor Gwynn.
"Flower Garden," directed by

Sigma Delta Tau
Sigma Delta Tau will celebrate
the anniversary of its tenth year
at the College this weekend. Vis
iting alumni will be entertained
Friday at an open-house at Phi
Sigma Delta, and Saturday at a
formal dance at the University
Club.
The College chapter. of Sigma
Delta Tau became national in
February, 1943, after spending ap
proximately five years as a club
known as - Emanon and as Phi
pledge chapter.
Mrs. Arnold Kalin, sorority ad
viser, and Mrs. Morris Mendel
son assisted in plans for the week
end.

Services
The Penn State Christian Asso
ciation will join with other local
Christian groups in an interfaith
worship night at Hillel Sabbath
Eve services at 8 p.m. Friday.
The Hillel Foundation is invit
ing other faiths to join in their
regular worship and visit the
foundation at that time.
Other events scheduled on the
PSCA calendar include a regional
corference, the annual banquet,
and a joint cabin party with the
Juniata Christian Association.
The North Atlantic Region of
the Student Christian Movement
will hold a leadership conference
at Bucknell University Sunday

At the regular meeting next
Wednesday night, the Revised
Standard Version of the Bible will
be discussed.
The annual PSCA banquet will
