PAGE EIGHT ' Ag Professor Buried April 2 In Oxford John B. Rutherford Dickey, pro: fessor emeritus of agronomy ex tension, who died in his State College home March 30 at the age of 64, was buried April 2 in Ox ford, Pa. A graduate of the College in agronomy in 1911, Professor Dic key served as an assistant in agronomy for one year before be coming soil surveyor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In 1916 he served as an agronomy specialist and also as the first county agent for Burlington County, N.J. Professor Dickey returned to the College as an assistant pro fessor in agronomy extension in June, 1949. A member of Alpha Gamma Rho and Phi Kappa Pi fraterni ties, Professor Dickey served as editor of the Pennsylvania Farm er. He was the author of many articles on Pennsylvania farming and rural life. Encomium National Title Jane Montgomery reported on the best selling novel by Norman Vincent Peale, "The Power of Positive Thinking" to win the national title in book review. The encomium national title was won by Mary Jane Kelley. Miss Kelley was also a finalist in the origin4l oration division. Grand national women's cham pions of the tournament Miss Un gar and Miss Lehman brought the title back to the College for the first time in three years. De bating negatively on the national topic, Resolved: That the Con gress of the United States should enact a compulsory fair employ ment practices law, they were awarded gold strawberry leaf pins as being the two most outstanding women in the tournament. 270 Debators Participate Women's teams from the College have been runnersup in the tour nament for the past two years. Last year a team of Miss Ungar and Greta-Weaver placed second for the grand national women's championship. Approximately 270 debaters from 56 colleges participated in the tournament.
