PAGE EIGHT Faculty Rating Plans Covered By LA Council • Faculty evaluation plans were considered at the Liberal Arts Student Council meeting last night. Richard Kirschner, chair man of the faculty evaluation committee, read instructions to be sent to each instructor in the Lib eral Arts school and the evalua tion sheet to be filled out by the students at the discretion of the instructor, r-The basis of the evaluation is to determine the quality of in struction, intellectual stimula tion, examinations, book content, lectures, attitude and originality of the instructor, and other per sonal classroom habits. Eliza Newell, sixth semester journalism major, was elected to the position of secretary-treasurer to replace Marion Morgan Hous ton, who has left campus. A discussion was held on the final examination leak and sug gestions were made for future elimination of the situation. Plans for the LA mixer to be held sometime in May were dis cussed. The group also consid ered plans for the open houses being scheduled by the various schools v for later in the Spring semester. Guild to Determine Semester Plans Radio Guild activities for the semester will be outlined in a meeting at 7 tonight in 312 Sparks. The meeting will be open to stu dents interested in joining in guild activities, .Nancy Luetzel, pub licity chairman, has announced. Each semester Radio Guild con ducts workshops in engineering, acting, announcing, writing, and sound and music. Besides three regularly scheduled programs over WMAJ, “Call Card,” “Spot light on State,” and “World at Your Door,” the guild will spon sor a dramatic series in conjunc tion with the Departments of Speech and Drama. In 1946, the Army in coopera tion with the Safe Harbor Power Co. organized the Susquehanna Emergency Net to assist the weather bureau in flood emer gencies and to maintain flood control. The College station is an active participant in this net and sends weather reports obtained from the College weather station to Safe Harbor in southeastern Pennsylvania. This information is used with informatiqpi obtained from other stations in the net to predict rain stages and possible floods. Early in 1947, the chief signal office of the Army and the Nor wegian Embassy in Washington Don't Forget!
