TPA Wins Cup; Black Named Mardi Gras King George Black, sponsored .by Gamma Phi Beta, was crowned king at the Mardi Gras Friday by Yvonne Carter, president of Mor tar Board. Theta Phi Alpha, with a total of 727 tickets, won the bronze trophy cup. Alpha' Omicron Pi, winner for the past three years, placed second, and Phi Mu was third. Black, a member of Sigma Pi, was presented with a mortar board crown, a gold scepter, and a $25 gift certificate from Jack Harper's. The .ball was a success, accord ing to Miss Heckman, who hopes it will be continued as part of Mardi Gras Weekend. Chimes, junior women's hat society, spon sored the dance. Winners of the Charleston con test were Peter Lang and Eliza beth Smith. They were given their awards by George Black, elected king of the Mardi Gras Friday night. Decorations carried out the Mardi Gras theme, with large papier mache masks at the sides of the room and below the stage. A domed ceiling was woven of multi-coldred crepe paper stream ers, and colored paper serpentine 7trands, dangled from it. JaCk Jenkins' orchestra played, and entertainment was provided by Thespians. 500 Persons Attend All-College Sing Approximately 500 persons at tended the All-College Sing in Schwab auditorium Sunday, ac cording to Carolyn McEl r o y, Women's Student Government chairman of the sing committee.
