THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1068 WSGA Senate Elects Morris to Judicial Carolyn Morris, seventh semester student in music education, was appointed senior representative to Judicial by the Women’s Student Government Association Senate last night. Theresa Taylor is chairman of the women’s judiciary body. Nani Ku, third semester education major, was appointed sophomore representative 'on the Freshman Regulations Board. Senate named Jane Reber to sit in as town senator while Barbara Denniston is student teaching. The group also approved a mi nor change in the judicial rules concerning weekend trips by co eds. Point “F” under standard penalties involving a 1 o’clock re moval was changed to read: sign ing out incorrectly in pink travel slip making it necessary for host ess to call your home. Point “H,” an addition to the same section, reads: not signing a guest in with hostess. Nominations for WSGA I dormi tory officers were held this week and elections will follow next week, Barbara Werts, vice presi dent, announced. It was decided that the many activities in spring make it ad visable to hold the Junior-Senior Faculty Reception in the fall se mester. Nov. 5 was chosen as the tentative date. Arrangements for WSGA par ticipation in Student Government Day on Sept. 25 were made. Phyl lis Kalson was put in charge of finding a place to present the skit or display that has been suggested. Nancy White will head the committee for the display. I Speech Clinic Receives $57 A group of life insurance men have contributed $57 to support work which is being done for handicapped children in the Speech and Hearing Clinic... The donation came from men who attended the fifth annual In stitute of Life Insurance Market ing, held at the College last sum mer. Dr. Eugene T. McDonald, clin ic director, said that gifts were used to obtain necessary mate rials which they would not other wise be able to get “for helping these handicapped youngsters in their efforts to improve their ability to communicate.” Dr. McDonald said there are approximately 1,000,000 children in Pennsylvania handicapped in speech and hearing. He also said 1,000 qualified speech and hear ing therapists are needed for schools out there are noly ap proximately 100 persons so train ed in Pennsylvania. Therefore, only a small num ber of these handicapped chil dren are , receiving remedial at tention, Dr. McDonald said.' Delta Chi National Elects Two Profs Dr. Marsh W. White, professor of physics, was elected national president of Delta Chi fraternity, and Dr. Alex Black, professor of animal nutrition, was made direc tor of educational activities at the international convention held re cently at French Lick, Ind. Dr. White has held the offices of director of scholarship, nation al treasurer, and national secre tary. Dr. Black has been alumnus adviser to the Penn State chapter for 16 years. Robert Frame, chapter presi dent; Joseph Messerman, treasur er; and Frank Williamson, active member, represented the Penn State chapter at the convention. Debaters Slate Coffee Hour For Monday A coffee hour for all women interested in debate will be spon sored by Delta Alpha Delta, local women’s speech honorary, and the women’s debate squad from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday in the northeast lounge of Atherton Hall. The coffee hour will give wom en interested in debate an op portunity to meet members of the debate team and to ask ques tions pertaining to debating at the College, according to Marian Ungar, women’s debate manager. All women, both upperclass and freshmen, may attend. To join the debate squad, fresh man women need not try out, but should have an interest in debat ing on this year’s national inter collegiate debate topic. Resolved: That the Congress of the U.S. should enact a compulsory fair employment practices law. No previous experience in debating is necessary. Upperclass women not on the squad spring semester of last year must try out by presenting a five-minute speech on either side of the debate topic. Tryouts will be held Oct. 2. Mrs. Davies was a junior in ele mentary education and a member of Theta Phi Alpha. Mr. Davies was graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology last June. The couple is now liv ing in California where Mr. Da vies is employed. Lushesavage-Rushin Jane Rushin of Nanticoke was married to Robert Lushesavage of Kingston on Aug. 18 in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Nanti coke. Mrs. Lushesavage was graduat ed from the College last year in the School of Home Economics. Mr. Lushesavage was grad uated from the College this sum mer with a B.S. in commercial chemistry and is now serving as a second lieutenant at Fort Camp bell. While in College he was a member of Phi Kappa and Alpha Phi Omega, national service fra ternity. Fisher-Foote Arlene Foote and James Fisher, both of Erie, were married there Aug. 9. Mr. Fisher was graduated from the College in chemistry in June, 1951. He is now employed as a civil engineer. After a honeymoon in New Eng land, the couple settled in its new home at 611 Smithson avenue, Lawrence Park, Erie. Barea Publishes 3 Spanish Novels “The Forging of a Regel,” the collective title of three novels written by Arturo Barea, visiting professor of Spanish, has been published for the first time in his native Spanish, the language in which it was originally written. Individually entitled “The Forge,” ‘‘The Track," and “The Clash,” the novels were original ly published in England in 1941 in English. Since that time they have been published in the United States, France, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Holland. Danish publishers interested in the novels have launched a cam paign to have Barea considered for a Nobel prize. Air ROTC Linked To Maxwell Base The Air Reserve Officer Train ing Corps unit became a part oi the Air University Aug. 1. The Penn State ROTC unit was one of 188 units which were trans ferred to the Air University, Max well Air Force Base, Montgom ery, Ala., from the Continental Air Command. The step was taken to consoli date and centralize the control of the program, and aid in the direct supervision of the units, the Air Force said. Mr. Lott was graduated from the College and is a member of Alpha Chi Rho. Yenko-Meloy Hope Meloy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luther L. Meloy of Coatesville, and Donald Yenko, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Yenko of Bentleyville, were married June 28 at the Presbyterian Church in Coatesville. , Miss Meloy, a senior majoring in elementary education, is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. Mr. Yenko was graduated from the College in 1951. He majored in commerce and finance and is a member of Kappa Delta Rho. At present he is working with his father in an automobile concern.
