Romance on Highway
Curbed by State Laws
An interesting bit of information for romantically inclined
college students is that it is illegal to. park on the highway of any
state except Georgia, Maryland, West Virginia, and the District
of Columbia.
There are interesting differences in the motor vehicle laws of
other states, too. For instance, you may drive a car at the age of
14 in New Mexico, drive as fast
as “reasonable and proper” in
Michigan, and meed not report
an accident in Ohio.
. Twenty states have higher gas
oline taxes than Pennsylvania’s
5 cents. Louisiana has the highest
tax—9 cents a gallon. Missouri’s
2-cent tax is the lowest.
Twenty-two states have higher
maximum speed limits than Penn
sylvania, 11 have no speed limit,
and three have lower speed lim
its.
Hand signals are required in
all states, all have highway pa
trols, and all permit spotlights.
The District of Columbia has
the lowest speed limit, 25mph.
Top speed in Massachusetts is
40 mph.
Headlights need not be dimmed
when approaching another car in
Alabama or New Hampshire, but
they must be in every other state.
Blue Key to Meet

hold its first meeting of the
