PAGE EIGHT Art Display In MI Gallery Closes Tonight The showing of two groups of paintings, "Portrait of Pow e r" and "Portrait of a Free Press," will close at 9 tonight after a week of display in the Mineral Industries Gallery. Tlie 50 paintings, including both water colors and oils, are spon sored by the Lehigh Art Alliance of Lehigh county and were paint ed by some 75 members of the organization. "Portrait of Power" is the painted description of the "work a-day" life of a community. The group used the Pennsylvania Power and Light Co.'s Sunbury power. plant as the subject. In the production of "Portrait of a Free Press" the subject chos en was the Allentown Call-Chron icle newspaper plant. Artists are now at work on a similar series on the dairy industry. Spring Week -- (Continued from page one) Miss Penn State over Spring Week activities. The Spring Week committee has set up a point system to de termine the winners of the Spring Week prizes. Each group entering a man in the He-Man contest will receive 75 points. Groups entering booths in the carnival will re ceive 50 points for each block of 25 tickets sold. Points are also awarded for participation in the Miss Penn State contest, the costume par ade, mad-hatter's day, and for finalists in the Miss Penn State contest. Delta Tau Delta and Kappa Delta have been awarded 570 points for sponsoring 38 men for the mad-hatter's day contest, for having two Miss Penn State en tries, one who is a .finalist, and for entering two men in the He- Man contest. Points given for the mad-hat ter's day entries are tentative and will not be final until the con testants are tagged on May 14, the day of the contest, Geffert said. Juniata to Hear State Alumnus Dr. Max Lauffer, head of the Biophysics department at the University of Pittsburgh and a 1933 graduate of the College, will address the 184th meeting of the Central Pennsylvania section of the American Chemical Society at 7:30 tonight in the Science Hall at Juniata College. . The subject of Dr. Lauffer's talk wi I I be "Viruses versus Chemistry, Physics, and Biology." Prior to the meeting a dinner will be served in his honor in the Penn ,Coffee Shoppe. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees at the College in 1933 and 1934 and his doctorate in 1937 at the University of Minnesota. He is a member of many profes sional and honorary societies and is an editor of "Archives of Bio chemistry and Biophysics." In 1946 he delivered the series of Priestley lectures at the College.
