At present all members of the committee must have served at least one previous semester on the council of the independent women’s organization. Nominees for executive positions must be below seventh semester in class standing. • Under the new plan the execu tive committee also would be giv en the power to fill all vacated offices except president, who is automatically replaced by the vice president.. If vacancies in both the offices of president and vice president should occur, another proposal calls for giving preference in fill ing these offices to members of the executive committee. The ex ecutive committee is elected •by all independent women. ." Hike A quick-thinking-New York post office, with 29 million anti quated penny postcards left over after the new postal rate hike went into effect remedied the situation by having the cards run dff "'o'n a tiekorrieten '.. Unfortunately, professors, be seiged with one-cent post cards attached to • final- examination bluebooks do not own tickometers to .help them out, and, even if they did,' could not operate them legally. - This tickometer, by the way, is a gadget which stamps in green just to the left of Thomas Jef ferson’s likeness a little inscript ion,, “Revalued 2 cents, P.O. Dept.” This leaves it up to the student to think ahead, and to supply his professors with the new two-cent post cards. With , this sad-turn in events, it will -cost'twice as much this, year to receive the bad news as it did in 1951. The original process of manu facturing penny post cards was a money-losing proposition for the government. Army may wrap up the tourna ment championship at 7 tonight when the teams meet for the sec ond gamp. If Navy wins, the win ner will be decided in the third game. Last night’s game was a slow moving c mtest, probably, because few of the players had ever worked together before. The Army sextet had leads at the end of all periods; leading 3-2 at the end of the first quarter, and step ping out ahead, 13-9, by halftime. The second half was more of a contest. Navy matched points with Army, six ana six, in the third period to make the score 19-15. In the final period, Navy, paced by Ann Miller, outscored the eventual winners, 8-6, to fall just short, of victory. Poor shooting, characterized by a low percentage of foul shots made, was evident on both sides. Navy netted only one out of eight free throws, while Army connected with three of 13. Nancy Jarden, of Army, was high scorer of the evening with 12 counters. Navy’s Miller connected for nine points.
