Attendants, Hemlock Chain For
May Day Named By House
The house of representatives lias named Cassafidra Caraway and
Mary Eyerley as sophomore attendants and Nieki Owen and Melissa
Ward as junior attendants to participate in.'the May- Day festivities.
Jesters and heralds were also named by the house. They are
Barbara Klopp and Sonia Goldstein as jesters and Virginia Smith
and Barbara Wertz as heralds.

tending the annual conference of
the American Association for
Health, Physical Education and
Recreation in Detroit.
Dr. Ellen Kelly, Dr. John Mas
ley and Dr. Lloyd Jones repre
sent Penn State at the conven
tion. Dr. Jones is vice-president
of the association.

Five hundred delegates from 33
states attended the national con
vention of the -American Feder
ation of College Women held in
Ann Arbor, Mich, last week.
Mary Ellen Grube, present
president of WRA, Marilyn Wil
liams, newly elected president,
and Betty Lou Jones, senior ad
visor, were the College’s repre
sentatives.-
One of the main topics of dis
cussion was the role of the AFCW
in national defense. Alvin Zander,
director of research at the Uni
versity of Michigan, spoke on
“Group Dynamics” Elsa Snider,
representative from the Office of
Education in Washington D.C.
discussed “You Have What It
Takes; Will You Use It?”

David Margolf was elected
president of the Thebes Temple
of Scarab, national professional
architecture fraternity.
Other officers for next year are
Gifford Albright, vice-president;
John Webb, secretary; Raymond

historian; and Daniel Kistler,
student council representative.
Prof. Louis A. Richardson is ad
visor to the fraternity.
Engineers Attend
Demonstration Today
Engineers representing more
than 30 industries, colleges, and'
the armed forces attended a one
day demonstration meeting on ex
haust pipe research at the Col
lege today. ■ "
Through discussions and dem
onstrations the staff members of
the engineering experiment sta
tion will explain results of re
search work on pipes for
engines. This work _.arted four
years ago under the sponsorship
of the Office of Naval Research.

Philosophy Club Hears
Physics Prof Tonight
Prof. Richard Raymond of the!
Department of Physics will speak
to the Philosophy club on “The
Scientific Theory of Knowledge”
tonight at 8 o’clock in 124 Sparks.
Professor Raymond presented
these ideas previously in a speech
at the Philosophy department
seminar. Group discussion will
follow the address. The meeting
is open to the public.

Holds Banquet Today
The Penn State chapter of Al
pha Pi Mu, industrial engineer
ing honor society, will hold a
banquet at the Nittany Lion inn
at 6:15 p.m. today.
Guest speaker will be William
Jeffrey, soccer coach.
The society recently initiated
six members. They are Richard
Moore, George Davis, Edward
