Freebairn was running away from Army’s Ciclc Shea when he crossed the tape in 4:15.8, break ing the old fieldhouse mark of 4:19.5, established last year. Vic Fritts and Jim Herb tied for first in the high jump at 6 feet 3%, John McCall edged Bill Lockhart, another Stateman, in the 600, and Don Ashenfelter took the 1000-yard run. An official’s decision took an other record from the Lions, this one in the mile relay. The offi cials ruled that the State anchor man had stepped too wide on the last turn, and Army was awarded the decision. The Lions were clocked at 3:20.6, which would have set a new Penn State indoor mark. The group will appeal the de cision at the next meeting of all- College cabinet Seven men who participated in a freshmen customs program at other schools or centers were granted temporary immunities until' the extent of the hazing at the schools can be verified. These men will be required to learn the Penn State songs and cheers even though they may be exempted from other regulations. .Eleven who are over 21 years of age will be exempt from the customs rules.
