Booters t',r ~ ut® .'';-arriers ' 4 ' wait Pitt Jeff Opens 15th Year Against Bisons Today While the Nittany gridmen will meet one of the most powerful teams in the country at Michie Stadium today, the situation will be reversed at Lewisburg, Pa., where the State soccermen, also boasting one of the most powerful teams in the country, are favored over Bucknell. Coach Bill Jeffrey will direct a team composed mostly of veterans in the initial fray of the 1950 sea son. A well-experienced forward line will be supported by a de fense spotted with 1949 holdovers. Three, sophomores will see their first action as a Jeffrey unit. Frank Fulmer will, start at right halfback with Kurt Klaus his run ning mate at center half. Jay Simmons will be at the left full back spot. Al other starters are lettermen. Ron Coder will be the goalkeeper. Jack Kurty will probably play right fullback and team with Sim mons. Jack and Coder are both seniors. The left halfback slot will be in doubt until gametime, and may be either George Emig or Jack Charlton. Emig is a senior and Charlton a sophomore. The forward line will be high lighted by Captain Harry Little, who after watching the toss of the coin, will step into his inside right position. Little was chosen freshmen flaunt Big Three Of Army Attack Soccer All-American as all-American in 1949. At in side left will be Ron Coleman, a junior. Joe Lane will be at cen ter forward again this year. Joe is a senior. The wing positions will be occu pied by Clarence Buss, who will run on the right, and Gus Biggott who handles the chores on the left side. Don and Bill Ashenfelter, Al Porto, Bob Parsons, Bob Freebairn, Jack St. Clair, Bill Gordon, and Jack McCall, all veterans of the successful 1949 season, and new comers Dudley Foster, Jack Hor ner, Vic Singer, and Dave Pierson will rate the Nittanies as favorites fol all dual meets and one of the top choices for the NCAA crown.
