Big Time
" Proof that Michigan State re
gards Penn State as one of its
major rivals is reflected ini the
price asked for tickets. The Spar
tan-Lion clash will cost fans,
$3.60. Only one other game, Notre
Dame at East Lansing, will cost
that much. ,
M. S. Record
, A record throng of 15,384 fans
jammed their way into Michigan
State’s gigantic fieldhouse to
y/atch the Spartans play Ken
tucky in basketball in 1947.

Air Mastery
, Head Coach Joe Bedenk’s re
cent solutions to two pressing
problems—(l) stopping the op
position’s passing attack, and (2)
developing an air offensive of his
own—have caused an amazing
turn-about-face, in the Lion foot
ball situation. . ■
The Nittanies, slated to be a
predominately ground offense
team, suddenly find themselves
with the edge in passing despite
the “expert" passers they have
Encountered in early season
games. ’ .
303 AIR YARDS
■ With 25 completions in 54 at
tempts, . the Bederikmen have
rolled up, a total of 303 yards
through the air for a completion
average of 46 percent. Four op
posing “T” formation quarter
backs, Steve Romanik,. Arnold
Galiffa, Ed Songin, and Fran
Nagle, have completed ■ only' 33
percent of their tosses, or 24 com
pletions in 72 tries. The opposi
tion; however, totals 360 yards
through the/ air. ’ *
The Lions have) the edge over
their four rivals in rushing yard
age also, having rolled up 660
