PAGE FOUR IM Play-offs Scheduled Badminton semi-finals will be played off this week between the leading teams of the season. The first matches were completed Monday night. Kappa Delta was high scorer over Atherton 111 when they won both singles games 11-2, 11-2, and 11-3, 11-8. Kappa Delta lost the doubles, though, when Atherton's Jones and Rouch edged out Kap pa Delta's Jelacic and Wakeling 15-5, 15-7. Mursch and Williams trinumphed for Kappa Delta in the singles. Their opponente were Coloraco and Verbeck. Atherton II lost their match to Phi Mu when they• forfeited the game. Alpha Gamma Delta showed a strong offensive team by taking the lead in both singles and the doubles over Chi Omega. Beth Kriner and Jane Mink com peted against Chi Omega' s Jean Murphy and Christie /Post in the singles and emerged victorious 11-4, 15-3, and 11-1, 11-6. Ash enfelder and Calahan gave Alpha Gamma Delta a complete victory in the doubles by defeating the Rice twins 15-9. 15-12. Play—offs will continue this week and girls interested in all college golf and tennis tourna ments are asked to sign up for either or both sports in White Hall by next Monday. Thespians Name Show Singers Glee singers have been se lected for the Thespian spring show, "Poor Mr. Varnum," a satirical fantasy about the char acters in Mr. Varnum's mural who spend one wild hectic night viewing modern campus life. Sopranos: Irene Cam ero n, Selma Rudnick, Audrey Wald, and Carol Wineman. Altos: Nancy Ault, Cindy Doan, Karol Kirber ger, and Alice Lanyon. Tenors: Bill Bemus, Ralph Cash, Dick Evans, Al Fasnacht. Bass: Dick Barager, Bill Brennan, George Rhoad, and Ted Sykes. The glee singers are individual performers as well as group singers in the show. 'Poor Mr. Varnum," written by co-authors Hank Glass, Fran cis Fatsie, and Tom Lyon, won first place in the Thespian script writing contest. Delta Zeta Grace Miller was elected presi dent of Delta Zeta Monday night. Other officers for next year are Janet Moorhead, vice-president; Pauline Brader, recording secre tary; Alice McFealy, correspond ing secretary; Marguerite Wil liams, treasurer; and Lee Hills, historian. According to a recent survey, 16 of 1100 interviewed girls consider a pin as meaning an addition to their collections, and 11 others wear them merely to decorate their clothes. Fast debunking of the old fashioned i dea at the College that being pinned is the same as being engaged, the survey shows that a majority of 511 coeds con sider pinning to mean merely go ing steady. Only 373 of the 1100 college women hold the opinion that wearing a fraternity pin is the same as wearing a ring. In terestingly enough, 158 replied that it merely meant "friendship." Chimes Arranges ComingMergerWith Western Honorary Chimes, junior women's honor ary, has made plans to merge with the Key and Scroll, Califor nia's junior women's honorary. Chimes, which recently went national, Is composed of students from Temple, Ohio State, Univer sity of West Virginia, and Penn State, charter chapters; and Brad ley University, which was admit ted to membership at last June's convention. Key and Scroll represents the California colleges of U.C.L.A., University of Southern California, and Santa Barbara College. Butler University and Univer sity of Washington filed petitions recently for admission to Chimes which was known as the junior service board until 1947, now has 14 active campus members.
