PAGE ETGHT Student Councils This is the first in a series of stories on student councils of the various schools of the College. The purpose of these articles is to better acquaint the student with his student council and to gain a greater interest in them. Today, it is impossible for the dean of a school to call together his entire school for a friendly, informal meeting as was possihi many years ago when the College was small. Thus,student councfl have come to the foreground to replace these informal meeting and to discuss any problems and ideas which may present them selves. Their goal if possible, is to find a solution to these problem:., and ideas. Meetings are held every week or as often as the president deems necessary. Discussions are held on problems the students present to their repesentatives, anti solu- Education The council president has a seat in the All-College Cabinet. In this way he further helps his fellow students to be represented in College affairs. In addition to the 13 student THE DAILY COLLEGIAN, STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA representatives, two faculty mem bers, who are representatives for the faculty, sit in on the meetings in an advisory capacity. To have a successful council it is necessary that the individual student cooperate by talking with his representative about any problems he may have. The academic problems of the tudents are not the only in -•rest of the council. It also en avors to help the student in his : - ryday school life. With this in ind, the council is now in the - - )cess of organizing a student ucation handbook. This hand .)ook is to be published next se mester and copies will be sent to all incoming sophomores. It will contain all pertinent in formation concerning students in the School of Education.
