PAGE FOUR Swimmers Aim For Second Win At Dickinson The charges of Bill Gutteron will be striving to bring their rec ord up to the .500 mark tomorrow when they invade the little town of Carlisle to oppose Dickinson in the fourth swim meet of the season. The slate now shows two losses against a lone victory over Temple. Despite a 44-31 loss to Syracuse last Saturday Gutteron is well pleased with the improvement showh by the Nittany tankmen. The swimmers showed to good advantage against the Orange, a team rated on a par with Cor nell which has one of the most talent-laden squads in the East. FOLMSBEE Ace diver Cal Folmsbee con tinued his winning ways by tak ing first place with 92.12 points, Cal has yet to do anything but cop first place laurels in dual meets this year and will be out to make it four straight tomorrow. As usual his diving mate will be Rudy Valentino, who came off with second place honors against Syracuse. It was the opinion of the judges that he executed the most perfect dive of the day against Syracuse—a front one and-a-half. SCHILDMACHER Bill Schildmacher, who cap tured first place in the 50-yard dash and second in the 100, will he the Lion's main hope in these events against Dickinson. An oth e r noticeable improvement was shown by Rod Waters, when he swam the fastest time of his career in the 150-yard backstroke. Baseball Call All varsity baseball candi dates are requested to report to Joe Bedenk in Rec Hall any time this week. Indoor condi tioning practice will start im mediately. Dillard Outraces Gehrdes at Tape Penn State's Jim Gehrdes firmly established himself as the outstanding collegiate hurdler in the East. Saturday night, as he finished second to Harrison Dill ard in the Boston Athletic Asso ciation games. The Altoona track star easily romped through the first trials and the semi-final round of the 45-yard event in 5.7 seconds. In the semi-finals, Gehrdes topped Ed Dugger, the Dayton A.C. star. who edged Jim last week at the Millrose games. In the final race, Dillard equaled the meet record by top ping the hurdles in 5.5, one sec ond more than the world's rec ord for that distance. Just a foot behind the former Baldwin-Wal lace flash, Gehrdes hit the tape to place second. CLASSIFIEDS All classified advertisements must be in by 12:00 p.m. day preceeding issue.
