Mortar Board
Taps 17 Coeds
In Dawn Rites
Mortar Board, senior women's
honorary, tapped 17 women at
6:30 o'clock yesterday morning.
After meeting in the second floor
lounge of Old Main tappees and
old members were served breaf
fast in McAllister Hall at 7 o'-
clock.
Immediately following the
breakfast an official ceremony
was held in the Dean of Women's
office. Girls were required to
wear Mortar Boards, black grad
uating caps yesterday morning
and were given gold cords to
wear as a sign of pledging until
initiation.
The girls tapped were Nancy
Ault, Sarah Beiber, Susan Bissey,
Helen Dickerson, Jane Fouracre,
Jo Fox, Pauline Globisch, Mar
jorie Gorham, Frances Keeney,
Patricia Kinkead, Martha Koons,
Claire Lee, Janet Lyons, Lorraine
Munz, Elaine Nelson, Lois Resler,
and Beatrice Silverstone.
Leadership, service to the Col
lege, and scholarship, the mini
mum average being two-tenths of
a point above the all-college
women's average, served as the
basis for determining the girls to
be tapped.
Members of Mortar Board are
planning a TNT (tried n' true)
Breakfast for senior women to be
held 7 a. m. Thursday morning.
The breakfast will honor all those
seniors whose leadership and con
tributions have been the mainstay
of Campus organizations.
Organizations on campus have
been asked to list girls who they
think would be eligible and some
have also been recommended by
Mortar Board. Seniors who are
not a member of Cwens, Chimes,
or Mortar Board, and who have
worked for their organization at
least two semesters have been
considered.

Love's Labor Lost
As Billfold
Vanishes
LOST—Diamond ring in girl's billfold
near labs.
Once upon a time a boy and a
girl fell in love. The boy gave the
girl his fraternity pin as a sym
bol of his lasting affection.
During the ensuing summer he
worked long and arduously and
saved his earnings. In the fall, he
obtained a part-time job and con
tinued to add to his savings. Fin
ally he had enough money
for a diamond ring. The girl was
overjoyed.
Her joy was short-lived, how
ever, for through some quirk of
circumstances she lost the ring.
At the same time she lost a bill
fold, a birthday present. The ring
had been placed in the billfold to
avoid corroding it in chemistry
lab where the girl spent much of
her time.
Ads placed in the College paper
as well as in the town paper
brought no results. This is a final
appeal. If you have , any know
ledge of anyone ' s finding a dia
mond ring, please call either the
Collegian office or 4720.
