TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1947 Junior Honoraries Write Constitution A constitution providing for a National Junior Women's Hon orary was drawn-up at the or ganization conference at the Col lege this weekend and will be sent back to the charter mem bers for ratification, Nancy Ault, president of Junior Service Board, sponsors of the confer ence, said today. If the charter members, Uni versity of Pennsylvania Ohio State University, Temple Univer_ sity, Cornell University, and Uni versity of West Virginia, ratify the constitution, a petition re questing a National Junior Wo men's Honorary will be sent to the National Board of Fraterni ties and Societies. If this board accepts the request, the National organization will be recognized nationally. Plans drawn up at this confer ence state that the organization will be known as Chimes. Miss Ault will serve as temporary president and Yvonne Worrell, also of the College chapter, will serve as executive secretary, un til permanent officers can be elected at the national conven tion in June. National headquar ters will be located at the College. The name Chimes was adopted from the local chapter at Ohio State University. The pin was selected to be a bell with three small pearls forming the clapper with the name Chimes written across the bottom of the bell. The colors of the organization are to be white and gold and the official flower a rose. The Chimes Clap per is to be the publication. Plans to become a national or ganization can be carried out if one other group beside the one at the College ratifies the constitu tion and if it is accepted by the National Council. As soon as it is officially national, petitions from other Colleges with local Junior Honoraries interested in joining this organization will be voted upon by the charter members. News Briefs Clover Club There will be a meeting of the Clover Club in 103 Agriculture at 7 o'clock tonight. Dr. J. G. Meskle, professor of soil technology, will discuss employment opportuni ties for the agronomist. Belle Lettres Club George R. Waggoner, assistant professor of English literature, will speak on "Sword or Rapier" at the Belles Lettres Club in the northeast lounge of Atherton Hall at 7 o'clock tonight. Thespians Feature Male Dance Chorus One of the features of "Hot'n Gold," the Thespian show to be given In Schwab Auditorium at 7 p. m. Thursday. Friday and Sat urday nights, is the male chorus. Men dressed as women and taking the parts of women were the excepted thing in Thespian shows until 1930. At that time women began taking a permanent part in the productions and form ed the female counterpart of Thespians--Masquerettes. In the scene "Make Me the King of an Island," from the 1927 show, "Girl Wanted," Wendell (Fuzzy) Lomady takes the femi nine lead as a hula hula girl as sisted by the male dancing chorus, as hula hula dancers. Raymond Fortunado is the female lead in "I've Been Look ing for Someone Like You" from the 1926 show, "The Kid Him self." Again the male dancers take the parts of women. This scene was given in the fall by the boy and "girl" of the original production, Roy Nelson and Bob Graham, who flew , from his California home to make the show. PENNSYLVANIA Alit Sponsors Concert Of Hot Jazz in Schwab Tickets for the Jazz Concert to be held in Schwab Auditorium at 7:30 o'clock Monday night are on sale at Student Union today, said Leo Troy, chairman or AVC, sponsors of the concert. The tickets at 50 cents, tax in cluded, can also be purchased at the Book and Record Shop, Mc- Muliens, the State College Hotel, or from individual members of AVC. The program is entitled "A Study of Jazz" and will feature the Tru Blu Sextet, which is fea tured on WMAJ every Friday and Saturday night. There will also be a commentary. This concert is being given to further the understanding of modern jazz. It is the first of its kind to be sponsored by AVC.
