Y, DECEINEBNIt 6, 1047 unior Service Board Heads I rive for National Honorary At least three universities plan to send delegates to the College weekend to discuss plans for organizing a National Junior omen's Honorary, Nancy Ault, president of Junior Service Board, .cal Junior Women's honorary, said today. Colleges sending representatives are University of Pennsyl ania, Temple and Ohio State University. West Virginia University, ihio University, Cornell, and University of Louisville, Ky., also have local chapters and have been extended invitations, but their representation at the conference, isn't definite, said Miss Ault. The conference will officially open tomorrow morning when a committee meeting will be held, to plan the general pattern, and' discuss matters such as fees, a name for the organization, and object. A tentative constitution will be drawn up and special committees will decide on the qualifications of members and the plan to follow when taking in new chapters. These meetings will be held in the Dean of Women's Office and in 405, 409 and 410 Old Main. / - SGA Hat Society lelps Orientate 3ophs, Transfers Junior Service Board became n active organization on campus 1941 when the need for a 'inior women's honorary to help ti the orientation of transfer tromen was realized. The group was charted under upervision of WSGA and given he responsibility of the orienta ion of transfer women, and dis ribution of the Point System, a , egulatory system used for wom tn's activities which has since ,een discarded. Dr. Pearl 0. , ;feston, then assistant dean of q•omen, was the club's advisor. The torch and scroll were 'chosen as the symbol and the same Junior Service Board was telected as typifying the activi ties of the organization. The 30 active Junior Service oard members have taken over Ile duty of the Senior Sponsors, nd meet monthly with the - ansfers to talk over any perti -o,ent problems about college ac- Wales. The organization is con sidered one of the Hat Societies and it is a member of Hat So cieties Council. Girls are chosen for Junior Service Board at the end of their sophomore year on the basis of high scholarship and extra-cur vicular activities. A member of Cwens cannot be tapped for Junior Service Board. Alpha Gamma Delta Wilma Brehm, Gilda Greco and Wilma Jane Mink were pledges to Alpha Gamma Delta sorority on November 24. Saturday afternoon a general meeting is scheduled to allow all committee findings to be reported and a final decision for the na tional junior honorary drawn up. There will also be election of na tional officers. A Sunday morning breakfast is planned for the group in White Hall, after which they will go to Chapel en masse. Marilyn Jean Badger. Janet Lucille Gustafson. and Elizabeth Wasber Zinn were formally initiated recently at the home of Mrs. Chester A. Dahle. The Tri-Delts also celebrated their Founders Day with an ad dress given by Jane Fouracre, president of the chapter. Delta Delta Delta pledge class entertained the 15 pledges of the Tri-Delts brother fraternity Chi Phi on November 20. The pre-hol iday party was held in the North east lounge of Atherton Hall. Alpha Sigma Phi The Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity is entertaining the Kappa Malta Thetas Sunday from 3 to 5 n.m. at n tea dance and buffet supper. Phi Mu Phi Mu actives will give a dance for their pledges at the SPE house from 8:30 until 12 p.m. Sat urday. Music will be provided by the Campus Kings of Bucknell. Sigma Nu Pat Patterson's orchestra will provide the music for the dance held by the pledge class of Sigma Nu. THESPIAN'S 7 o'clock co_cht, Coed Coordinating Committee Investigates Permissions Blanket permission at twenty-four colleges and universities in the country are being investigated by the Coed Coordinating Com mittee, headed by Virginia McCluskey, WSGA senior senator. A letter of inquiry, sent out to the women's governing body in these schools, requests information on the type of blanket permis sion used, the set-up of the system, the length of time the system has been functioning, the number of women students enrolled at the school, and the general atti tude of the students, dean of women, and hostesses toward this system. Samples of any rules and regu lation forms in the administration of the system are also requested. Replies are expected before De cember 18 and action will be taken by WSGA soon after Christ mas vacation The schools being contacted in the investigation were selected from members of the Intercol legiate Association of Women Students. The committee tried to choose those schools having an enrollment comparable to the Col lege.
