FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 1047 WRA Marks Thirty Years As Coed Athletic Sponsor Women's Athletic Association had its beginning thirty years ago and out of this organization has emerged the present-day WRA. The aims and purposes of WRA are to provide recreation and promote the development of skills in various sports and activities. Officers are elected by the women students of the College. Lee Ann Wagner now officiates as president. Aims of the organization are fourfold. The first is the competitive Club Prexies Form Board Eight club presidents make up the' WRA club presidents board under the supervision of Polly Globish, club chairman. The purpose of the board is to coordinate all club activities and meeting dates. In addition, the board assists in all WRA projects. WRA has an "adopted child" who will receive a Christmas package made up of separate items donated by each individual club. The eight club presidents in clude Lou Frazier, outing; Mary Kapp, bridge; Jane Kyle, fencing; Gladdy Lou Miller, dance; Wanda Rickert, rifle; Jacqueline Wen gert, badminton; Yvonne Worrell, swimming; and Betty Vander beck, bowling. co-edit, Zeta Tau Alpha Zeta Tau Alpha sorority is planning a party in honor of its new pledges at the home of Mrs. Laura Mateer at 7 o'clock Sun day night. Luncheon will be served. Alpha CM Rho Alpha Chi Rho will hold a Halloween party at their house from 9 to 12 p.m. tomorrow. The orchestra of Gene Sprague and special entertainment will be featured. . Stanley Morris of the social committee stated that all fratern ities are invited, but must come in costume. Beta Theta Pi Beta Theta Pi will entertain 20 fathers at the fraternity's annual Dad's Day, tomorrow. The fath ers will be entertained at lunch eon. Charles B. Snell is chairman of the affair. . Alpha Tau Omega The A.T.O.'s are having an in formal get-together at their house this Saturday evening for the members. John McGregor, national president, will be with them. McGregor, guest for . the week end, is now holding the position of Assistant Dean of the N. Y. University Law School. Kappa Alpha Theta The Theta's will hold open house this Saturday afternoon after the Colate game for all members, new pledges, and their dates. Delta Sigma Phi Delta Sigma Phi will hold a hay ride for members and dates this evening. The fraternity has also planned a tea dance Sunday afternoon to entertain the Chi Omega sorority. Delta Tau Delta Delta Tau Delta will relinquish part of the chapter house to dates as the fraternity celebrates its houseparty weekend. A hayride has been scheduled for tonight, while a Sadie Haw kins dance will follow the buffet supper after the football game tomorrow. Guests will be dress ed in Dog-Patch style, according to social chairman Robert Stirk ing, and a prize will be awarded for the, best costume. Huff Hall and his band will play for the dance. Second is the club activities program which includes various clubs in the rec reational field. Another feature of WRA is the individual participation program which attempts to encourage women students to enter into var ious sports activities. To broaden the lnterest of WRA and to fuse these interests with the campus projects program, and• at the same time provide leader ship opportunities for sports minded students, the project pro gram has been set up. EOM TRY A PACK ...TODAY Romig Lists Intramurals The schedule for WRA Intra mural events for the fall semes ter has been announced by Nancy Romig, Intramural chairman, and Miss Lucy, faculty advisor. League I, made up of Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Zi Delta, Ath erton Hall, Co-op, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, and Chi Omega, will play basketball on Tuesday and bowl on Wednes days. League II will play basketball on Wednesdays and bowl on Mondays. Members of League II are Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Gam ma Phi Beta, Kappa Kappa Gam ma, Phi Mu, and Town. Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Gam ma Delta, Delta Zeta, Phi Sigma Sigma, Sigma Delta Tau, Theta Phi Alpha, Zeta Tau Delta, Tri Dorms will play basketball on Thursday nights for League 111. Three Sophomores Take WRA Offices Installation ceremonies for three newly elected sophomore officers of WRA were conducted by Lee Ann Wagner, ptesident of WRA, at White Hall Tuesday night. Gertrude Fetzer, assistant in tramural chair man; Shirley Gauger, sophomore representa tive; and Frances Nichols, secre tary-treasurer, took the oath of office and were presented recog nition pins by Miss Wagner. Nancy Romig, WRA intra mural chairman, gave a brief his tory of WRA and explained the ideals and aims of the organiza tion. Both the executive board and the club presidents board of WRA were present at the cere mony. Following installation, the boards held their weekly meet ings. more
