You msi e many statements, the first of which was that the men in the band didn't want to go to Philadelphia. Just because the band members chose the Navy trip over the Temple one is not sufficient evidence to con clude that they don't want to make the Temple trip. When the vote, that you mentioned in your article, was taken the members of the band had to choose between Navy or Temple—they were told they couldn't make both trips. THAT IS WHY THEY CHOSE NAVY! They would still like to go to Philadelphia if they could make both trips. Your second agrument concerned dance band jobs—ONLY ONE DANCE BAND HAS A JOB THAT WEEKEND. As for the strike at the Bellevue Stratford Hotel —haven't you heard? Philadelphia has more than one hotel! By the way wasn't there a strike in Pitts burgh last year? Under authorization of the Dean of Men, Blue Band members have an opportunity to make up any work missed while on trips. Foot ball players miss classes also, but they make up their work. So, Mr. Editor, if you are going to give reasons for the absence of the Blue Band at the Temple game PLEASE make them sensible and justified ones. DON'T TELL THE STUDENT BODY THAT THE BAND MEMBERS DON'T WANT TO MAKE THE TRIP TO PHILADELPHIA! • Editor's note: The information that was printed in the editorial Mr. Grimsley refers to was obtained from the director of the Blue Band, Prof. Hummel Fishburn, an►: was not just idle editorial comment. No Rent Decrease For Circle Dorms The Federal Public Housing Authority will not permit a de crease in rent for Pollock Circle dormitories, said Harold Loman, Director of Dormitories and Din ing Commons, due to the rise in food prices since last May. Mr. Loman made this statement to a group representing the Pol lock Circle Council when they questioned him Friday concern ing the seemingly high living cost of the Circle. At the request of the Circle Council, Mr. Loman and Frank Morris, assistant to the Treasurer, had lunch in the Circle dining common that day "to see for themselves" the conditions which are the source of so many com plaints. Since last year's receipts from Pollock Circle residents were greater than the expenses, Mr. Loman added, he attempted to have the room rent lowered. However, the F.P.H.A., which controls similar units throughout the nation, would not okay the decrease. He went on to say that the Col lege sends all money in excess of expenditures to the government, and cannot buy new articles for the dormitories except to replace worn out items, he said. Acting as hosts for Messrs. Loman and Morris were James MacCallum, Council president; Donald Mitchell, _vice-president; Leo Shellchock, chairman of the health and sanitation committee; Thomas Reissmann, resident counselor; and Edward Wal cavage. —R. G. Grimslev ka Vie- winners will be awarded a por trait taken at the Penn State Photo Shop, in addition to a double page spread in La Vie.
