The "Band of Renown" was contracted !by a turn of events, as Brown was tentatively sched uled to play in Jamestown, N. Y. that evening. When informed of the dance at the College, 'he de cided to accept this engis•gement instead and will play at the Hershey Park lballroom the fol lowing night. A native of Lykens, Pennsyl vania, Les Brown started orches tra work there in his father's dance hand. While a student at Duke University„he formed his, own musical icrew and since then hiss risen steadily until he now Tests near the top of the nation's dance orchestras. • -Last—summer ; -Brown . recorded "Sentimental Journey" and so popular - was this recording that his outfit was termed "The band [.ll America wants to hear."
