Fletch er, dean emeritus of the School of Agriculture, who has started on a cross-country jaunt , through most of these United States. Only 24 hours .after his formal retirement as dean, Dr. Fletcher and his wife set out on a motor trip on which they will visit near ly every member of their far flung family. ‘‘While Mrs. Fletcher .and I are not losing any time in leaving here,” the former head man on Ag Hill laughingly told his col leagues, “we’re not. shaking the •good old Penn State dust from our shoes.” ; The couple plan to return to State College in May, at which time Dr. Fletcher plans to resume work on a toook concerning three centuries of Pennsylvania agri culture. First stop for Dean and Mrs. Fletcher on their American odyssey will toe Washington, D.C. where .they will visit their daugh ter-in-law, Mrs. Emmet Fletcher. Their son, Emmet, lost his life while serving as a dive toomtoer pilot in the Navy. Three other sons also; fought in the war. ..From Washington, the Fletch ers will drive to Charlottesville, Va. where they will see their son, Richard, assistant dean of men at the University of Virginia. Next on the list will toe Peter who is with the U. S. forestry service at Raleigh, N. C., then Robert, at San Antonio, Texas, and Jack at Los Angeles, Calif. ; All of the. Fletcher , children, in cluding another son and daugh ter, are'graduates 6f the College, where Dr. Fletcher has been as sociatd with the School of Agri culture for nearly 30 years. tin addition to catching up on family acquaintanceships, Dean Fletcher expects to do some fish ing on the West Coast. Hetzel has announced. The school’s present single cur riculum, health and physical edu cation, will be designated physi cal education, according to Dean Carl P. Schott. (Freshman and sophomore students, Dean Schott pointed out, will take the same courses as previously, but physi cal education majors in their junior and senior years will spec ialize in the curriculum of their choice. Degrees in physical education, will prepare students for work in, public schools or colleges, while those graduating in recreation will deal primarily with activities in industries or in a municipal set-up. Those in the health edu cation curriculum will be pre pared for work in county or state health offices or in, similar fields.
