Those Boots; Slushy Going Ahead! 4etter take care of those over shoes which have been thrown so carelessly into •the closet in "the 'past; they're a part or . America's wartime rubber supply. This ad vice was given by OPA laSt week. The Government is counting on consumers to make their 'old rub •hers and galoshes last "as long as Possible and to replace them with the Victory footwear only when absolutely necessary. • The Victory line r s of rubbers and overshoes, containing more scrap rubber than - 7before, are made for utility Wear.. Although they won't last as long as . the old types, they wall giye satisfactory service— especially if .they are properly cared for. They'll come in black only; and heels of new rubbers will be. 'no higher than 2 inches. Wherever a substantial rubber saving can be made, waterproof fabric is being used instead. No more zipper closings, either, and no fancy boot or fur-trimmed sty les for the duration. • "Swapping" or ."trading". is one 'suggestion inade by. OPA to ex tend the' usefulness of the present supply of rubbers and galoshes.
