Letter Printed below is part'of a letter, recently received from Samuel G. preOman '42, addressed to the Student Tribunal. Fredman is how attending Col umbia University. While here at State he was active in politics, a member of the varsity debating team, a meniber of the PitmenMe Council, and held a Seat on Tri bunal. Freshmen will be interested to know how a graduate ccimpares Penn State to another college. ". . . . I just thought you fel lows would be interested Itt what an old buddy is (Ming. For me, there will never be a place like Penn State, or an organization like Tribunal. I can safely say the former gave me three and a half of the mist wonderful years of any life, and the latter gave me a semester full of real enjoyment and perpetual -good times. "Here at Columbia, the kids wear dinks, sure. But they don't knov? why they wear them; they don't have a 'hello spirit,' net. do they have a spirit of fair play to ward the other fellow which is so predominant at State. Try to' make the frosh realize, and the. rest of the school for that matter, that they have a wonderful place to go to school, especially in these times; when the shadow of war lieS so clOse to us - all. "Let all of them remember the benefits that are accruing to them from an institution such as ours . . ." We say this well aware of their 34-li defeat at the hands of a bunch of train-weary Dukes last weekend. This lop-tided score loses some of its significance in the light of the following facts. The Blue Devil's rushing and passing attack totalled only 150 yards. They got two touchdowns on pass interceptions, one on a punt runback, one on a Colgate fumble, and one on a pass. Coupled with these disillusioning statistics is the fact that Colgate will certainly be primed for a come-back this afternoon at the expense of our own Nittany Lions. You know the odds are 8-5 favoring the Red Raiders. State Too Has An Interest That's why we say don't for a moment underrate Colgate. But that's not the end of this little tale. Penn State also has quite an in terest in this afternoon's fracas. -A good part of the stands being oc cupied by alumni and parents certainly won't dampen our spirit any. And incidentally, this is one of those games in which spirit may be an important factor. It also occurs to us that State has not lost a home game since, well. ever since we've been here at least. If you want the statistics it has been three and a half years. These Are Easier Freshman Soccermen Encounter. Mont Alto Foresters Today While their big brothers, the varsity, are at Syracuse. ALUMNI CIDER PARTY at Armory After the Show After calling the turn on that one, it's comparatively easy to see our way on the following games,. Hoping to et least hold and pos sibly boost our .732 average to date, the Board of Experts once again makes the leap. After lest week's tie, Penn should come back strong at the ekpente of Columbia. Next week's Penn-Army game won't be nearly as easy to call. Syracuse and Cornell will once again battle it out. It looks like the Orange by a couple touchdowns. The Dukes really pulled a quicky last week in their upset of Colgate (they only had sandwiches before the game). But Pitt should be ready for and stop the Blue Devils. If Waynesburg beats West Virginia, the Board of Experts will be ready to tender their resig nations. Easier Still Army will continue to roll on .its way. And this week Harvard be the team to step out of the West Pointer's path. A strong lAucknell squad should be able +o stop Boston U. We think they will. In the mid-west it looks like Minnesota over Michigan aid Notre Dame over Illinois. Arid then there's that Lehigh-Rutgeti struggle. The Board was just about to give this game up and pick another one when Dom Go lab clinched our choice. "If men lb the fat Ilutijeta; certainly ought to be willing 16 , Pick 'em over Lehigh..' .
