It has spread particularly through out the East and Midwest until today there are 48 active chapters. Chartered in, 1898, the Penn State Chapter was designated , as Kappa, the ninth Phi Sigma Kappa chapter. Kappa's growth has '•been steady since that time, being forced to enlarge its, quar ters several times since the founding. The present house at Fairmount and Allen was built in 1927. Probably the outstanding graduate of Kappa is DiCk Har low, famous football • coach of Harvard University. - • chi . .,Rhi Oldest. Social.
